TreeGuards
TreeGuards are plastic sleeves that allow light through their side walls, but:
- Protects broadleaves during the critical first years from rabbits, deer and wind.
- Allows herbicide to be sprayed around the base without the risk of contacting the young tree.
| Specs |
TreeGuards are 36" long, 3 to 4" diameter, double-wall, light-brown plastic. |
| Benefits |
TreeGuards last about 5 years. FiberRod posts will last 10-plus years. TreeGuards allow herbicide to be sprayed around the guard without risk to the tree. (It's important to understand that weeds steal light and moisture—and thereby kill or stunt more tree seedlings than deer or rabbits.) |
| Installation |
It only takes a minute to place the TreeGuard tube around the young tree and slide a 3/8" FiberRod™ post (sold separately--see accessories tab above) through the precut holes. We do this in the spring and push the FiberRod posts into the soil (10") by hand. (If deer aren't a concern, you can save $$ by cutting the 36" TreeGuards in half and using 3' FiberRods.) |
