More of a Permanent PoultryNet than a PermaNet. We keep it set up at the Home and East Farms to keep our chickens where we want them. No predator issues thus far. Also keeps in ducks and geese (we haven’t used it with turkeys or other fowl yet). Since the net usually stays unmoved, we spray herbicide along the bottom to prevent vegetation growth. Otherwise grass would grow and sap the energy from the fence.

After a couple of daytime fox attacks, I bought 300'of the double spiked Perma net last year. It has proved to be one of the best things I have done for my chickens. It has worked out so well, that I bought another 300'of it this year to expand the range a bit. It has been the answer to the fox problem for me.

I own poultry net plus and I bought this because of the height/length/price and the claim that it is stronger and can withstand harsher weather. It was equally as easy to install as the shorter poultry net. The post thickness is nicer, the length spike is much appreciated. It doesn't sag, it looks great and seems sturdy.

Easy to move and for the most part keeps the birds in as long as I clip wings. Difficult to electrify. My husband and I have shocked ourselves several times attempting to get a current through but we just use it without electrification or connect it to our horse pastures.

I Love this product. I've had my original purchase for years and it still works great. occasionally, when putting in one fo the end posts, the shocking wire at teh bottom will slip down around the posts thus grounding out all the electricity as I suspect is the case for "Verna S from Kansas" It's hard to see. An improvement that can be done by the end user is to put a tie wrap tightly around the bottom so that the line cannot slip down. I have recommended this product often and those who have bought on my recommendation have been happy also. thanks to this fencing, we now have very educated predators who steer clear of the fence even when I don't have it powered up. Easy to use, move, adjust. Get the upgraded double posts - you will thank yourself for it.

I purchased two rolls of this netting because of the strong recommendations for it. But so far we have not been able to get current through any of it other than to the first post. We've been in a drought and have tried watering the ground rods but still nothing. So far it has been an expensive fabric net that doesn't work.

I have my laying hens in one 100ft section. They don't fly out and nothing has eaten them yet. Definitely get the two-prong poles, much easier to push in. I don't think the Plus version is necessary with Permanet since the pole spacing is fairly close to begin with. I went with the normal net and I'm happy.

I ran 50' of PermaNet 12/48/3 fencing with double spike posts for my chickens. I live in an extremely rocky area and had to use a mallot to drive the spikes in, and for some i had to actually dig out the area for the posts. I used a few extra single spike posts between the original posts to prevent sagging, and also one for the corner, to tie off the fencing to a steel post, which worked out well. The electrified netting has prevented any predators from attempting to enter the area.

I'm pleased with this fence. Moving it takes about 10 minutes alone or 5 with 2 people. The Chickens never attempt to go through the netting, and have had no predator problems.

We got the double spike to contain 35-20 chickens with a mobile house. Its easy to move with a few people, doable with only one or two. Our problem was that the birds could fit though the netting just up to full grown. So the netting was only good to keep predators out (or so we thought) The birds didn't seem to care if the got shocked, even when it was working well. We had one dog that didn't seem to mind getting shocked either. He chewed through the fence when it was on!! My guess is that when this happened is that it wasn't really hot, maybe too much was touching the ground. We live in the mountains and with very uneven ground so a lot of extra stakes helps to keep too much from touching the ground.

Ordered the PermaNet fence for 15 Chickens. Installation was easy and quick. The chickens and my dogs quickly picked up on the barrier. Taking it down to mow is the only negative, although the other benefits more than make up for this.

I raise monthly batches of 600 broilers on pasture throughout the spring and summer seasons of East Texas. Before purchasing the Premier Perma-Net fence, I had constructed a number of pasture sleds that varied every revision as I attempted to make the largest sled possible that was easy and quick to move, while offering the best storm and predator protection possible. The key characteristics of a good sled constantly battle against each other—light weight, toughness, flexibility to contour to rough terrain, square footage, storm and predator protection, and bird crowding… I altered materials, designs, etc…and after about a year of being dissatisfied, I colleague of mine recommended Premier Perma-Net fence. I purchased a number of these with the double-spike design and was mostly satisfied with their performance. The only thing that disappointed me was how much effort that it took to get the spikes into the ground. I had to pre-drive a rebar spike into the ground to “pre-drill” holes for the fence. However, this was not the product’s fault, but rather that fact that the ground on my newly-purchased ranch had been over-farmed and over-grazed for years, leaving very low organic matter. This, coupled with the current drought, produced a nearly impermeable surface. However, since then, I purchased some single-spike Perma-net fences, and have had about an inch of rain. Since then I have been very pleased with this product. I now use four 100’ nets in conjunction to create a 10,000 square foot paddock and move my shade sleds within the paddock every day. I only have to move the net once per week to create a fairly low maintenance operation.

This fence was a huge disappointment. After investing in the fence and a very good charger, I was several hundred dollars in only to find that it just does not contain my chickens. I thought that it must not be working so tried the fence and sure enough it had a painfully strong jolt. The problem is that, even at about 8 weeks old, and large sized, my chickens can quickly squeeze through the 4" by 4" holes that are relatively low to the ground. They jump through quickly. We have several different breeds, and within about twenty minutes ALL forty of the birds had left the pen. I guess that's why traditional chicken wire has about 1" openings. If this had small openings all the way up, it'd be great. As it is, it's totally useless. Darn it.
You're right that it won't stop small chicks. Our catalogs and website say (under Precautions) "Not effective with baby chicks that are small enough to crawl through the net openings and therefore are not deterred by the electric shock".
The net openings are 2" by 3" (not 4" x 4"). We agree 100% that it would be good to have net that has 1" openings- and thus suitable for younger chicks. We've asked our manufacturer for this change—but that's beyond the capabilities of their current machines. -- Premier

Love the fence. Very sturdy, and the double spikes are perfect for our forested area, with lots of rocks surrounded by soft soil. You can push the spikes in with your foot or a rubber hammer, and they stay upright even in high winds. I'll get another 100' segment if we raise meat chickens!

The sturdy poles hold the fence up nice and straight. Double spikes make it super easy to put up, even in rocky ground. My husband and I moved the chickens to fresh grass every week all last summer and the fencing was very easy for the two of us to move. We lost chickens to predators before getting the fence, haven't lost any in the year since.

We originally bought two 100' rolls to fence our vegetable garden. We were having trouble with groundhogs and deer. It worked! Kept the animals out and we finally had a great harvest. The second year I bought another 100' roll and expanded our garden to 50' x 100'. We are thrilled. We install it as soon as we finish our first planting each spring. We then take it down in the fall after the last above-ground crops are harvested. We have had no problems storing it by using the suggested procedure to bundle it up. This will be the fourth year and the fence shows no sign of wear or breaking apart.
To install it, I drive a large 5/16" diameter nail/spike into the ground at the proper location for the post spike to create a starter hole. I pull the nail out, and then I push the fencing post spike into the hole by hand. It is much easier and I feel it saves wear and tear on my fencing.

Sturdy netting. Highly recommend the double-spikes. We have hard, rocky ground and they still work well. Easy to set and keep upright. EXACTLY what we hoped for. Fast shipment. Thank you so much! I'm so pleased, I'm about to buy another 100' right now.

We purchased a PRS-100 fence energizer and 3 100' long by 48" high permanet sections to contain and protect about 300 chickens. This is a very high density so should be moved regularly. I highly recommend the double spike posts as they're much easier to push in the ground. We began using this netting under the worst possible conditions - dry ground in late August, 4 month old chickens (great flyers), chickens untrained to fences, etc. I fed them inside the fenced area one morning and closed them in, but when they finished eating and saw that they were penned in they started flying over the fence in waves. I opened it back up. I then tried the same thing in the evening when they were thinking about going to bed. This worked well. They were calmer, and stayed in the fence overnight. I fed them early the next morning so they wouldn't feel a need to get out. I also had to water the ground around the fenceline for a few days so they would get a better ground and a more powerful shock. I ended up having to clip the wings on about 10 chickens that wouldn't stay in, but within 2 days everybody else had settled down and seemed quite contented with their new home. It takes a lot of zaps to train 300 chickens, but eventually they all learned. They do not push the fence at all now, and don't fly over. They're happy, and I'm happy.

Great product. Bought two 100' sections a year ago and just bought two more. Good for chickens but also found works well for goat and lambs with enough confidence that I don't feel the need for a secondary containment perimeter fence. Prior to this, never found the larger mesh fences to be quite enough. Only downside is that the 100' sections can be heavy.

We've used the temporary, movable fencing from Premier for years and they have held up well. This is the first time we've ordered the permanet and we love it. Poles are much sturdier than the temporary netting. Doesn't sag and is easy for even one person to install. We'll go with this option for any future needs. Thanks Premier for great products, fast deliver and great service.

I've been using this now for 2 months. I too have found a couple chickens on the outside. But I haven't seen any predators inside:-) When it hadn't rained for a month it was next to impossible to get the spikes back in the ground when I moved it. So the following time I watered the ground where it was going to and it was much easier. Am looking to get another section to expand the chickens area. I have 30 confined by the 100 ft section.

This is the BEST net fencing I have ever bought! The 50 foot sections are extremely easy to manipulate and put up by myself and are way more sturdy than the traditiona fencing. I'm going to replace all my net fencing with this version.

A friend raved about these nets for their poultry and said their chickens never escaped. Somehow, though, I find our chickens outside of the fence periodically. I don't know if they fly over it or what. The fence is always on. 95% of the time this fence keeps them in, but the 5% of the time it didn't, we lost some chickens to a prowling fox.

Just installed 300' of this netting, along with the Patriot P5 energizer kit. It could not have been easier, I wonder why I waited so long to take this action. I let my poultry dig up way more flowers and shrubs than the cost of this fencing. Now I can have a garden again. Oh, and though two people are recommended, I did it alone in a short time period. No hassle, no muss, no fuss. Thanks, Premier One!

This fence was much easier to move than I thought it was going to be, even with one person. I love how it doesn't sag -- it's somehow more satisfying to put up than the regular electronetting. I highly recommend buying different lengths -- I have already wished I had all the sizes multiple times.

I use the PermaNet double spike fencing to keep my Tibetan Mastiffs in the yard. I use it both as a liner next to another fence and as a stand alone fence. These dogs are great at dismantling fences and jumping or climbing them. The electric mesh keeps them away from the fence entirely. It is easy to put up, and easy to move. I love the heavy duty posts and the mesh is well spaced. Even the puppies quickly learn not to challenge the fences. No more broken teeth or escaped dogs. It is the best electric mesh fencing I have found, and I have tried several.

As a new hobby I decided to raise chickens & start a large garden (raised in the big city - all of this is new to me). In Oregon we have deer, elk, opportunistic feline & K-9 "friends". While our human friends & neighbors have suffered many casualties, my Intellishock and PermaNet were WINNERS right out of the box and for over a year now. Exceptionally high quality and reliability; practically maintenance-free. Very informative catalogs, website and staff. There are so many options out there .. I would never consider anywhere but Premier 1! 4 orders later for other electric fencing and miscellaneous supplies - I can't be more pleased.

We have used this fence nearly a year in one area, leaving it in place even during heavy rains, winds up to 70mph, and a foot of snow that has been with us since mid-Dec.) with no problems and no loss of hens to 2 or 4-legged varmints for the first year in the 30 we've had chickens. When it arrived, the instructions advised having 2 people place it, but I was able to do it alone, and I'm only 5 ft, 100 lb. If a bird runs into it, she is bounced back out or can wiggle out - no injury. It can be repositioned or left in one place. The double spikes make it easier to position the posts to avoid sag in the fence. I hope to budget more this year, and highly recommend it for pasturing. Ours is linked to our horses' electric tape fence, handling the high power level with no problem.

PermaNet is awesome! I think that the double-spikes are a must-have; moving this net around is so easy! We leave ours up all winter (because we are lazy, and because it freezes into the ground before we remember to remove it) and I am always impressed with how it barely even bends under snow and ice. I don't think I'm ever going to have any sort of permanent (wood/metal/etc) fence for my birds because this has all the benefits and none of the drawbacks.
