PermaNet® 10/48/6 Electric Netting

150' rolls also come in green/black. Green horizontals and black verticals allow this net to blend aesthetically into natural backgrounds.

How does it compare to our temporary nets (ElectroNet® and E'Stop™, etc?)

  • Designed to be left in one place for months or years. For this it has stronger, heavier, larger PVC posts with longer, thicker, steel spikes, supporting the net better through wind, rain, ice and snow.
  • It's taller--therefore more reliable.
  • It's a very good conductor (low electrical resistance). This is critical as weed contact may become heavy.
  • Supplied in many lengths--to enable users to buy the right length for each situation.

Weed issues
Weeds must be controlled for PermaNet to remain effective. Either move and mow as needed during the growing season, or spray herbicide (see photos above) along the bottom strand of the net.
If you can’t do this, PermaNet may not be the right net for you.

Precautions

This is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in.

It is best to have animals trained to electric fencing before you turn them out in the net only. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Even though this net is more stable than other nets, extra posts may still be needed to keep the hot strands off of the ground.

Dry conditions and wintertime usages—may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing.

Dry or frozen ground many cause the NetPost spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed.

Trouble Shooting

If the voltage drops below 3000v on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test just the energizer by itself. If the voltage is 5000v or higher on the energizer the problem is in the net. The most common problem is that the lowest 'hot' strand has been caught around one of the metal spikes on the posts and is shorting it out. The net must be at least 2" away from anything metal (metal posts, existing fences, spikes on support posts).

Warranty

With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

When we install a net that needs to stay up for a year (in some cases even longer) we use PermaNet. We developed it as a semi-permanent fence to use on our East Farm. The fences were non-existent but we needed the pasture immediately. We put together PermaNet and were so satisfied we decided to offer it. It is heavier and bulkier than ElectroNet and ElectroStop, but it is designed to be installed and left alone. Some of us like that you don’t have to bend over as far to install or remove a post. The downside is the vegetation growth along the net, since it stays unmoved for so long. We spray an herbicide along the net to prevent growth. Lack of growth means less vegetation to drain the voltage from the net.

As always, a great product! This will add to our fencing abilities to graze our goats. It's tough enough to keep the bears, deer, and an occasional loose dog out, and our goats and LGD's in. We've used the double spike only as it provides a better stability in our sloped/hilly location. Though it is a pain to move in our forest and brush areas, the security it provides is well worth it. We only use the white as it can be seen at a greater distance, therefore we can see problem areas that may have sagged due to tree limb fall or where wildlife may have encountered the fence. We train all of our goats to it from the very beginning, wetting the ground within 2ft. of the fence and making sure the goats contact the fence. It only takes once or twice, and never a problem. We have Anatolian Shepherd guardians and they respect the fence, and have not tried to jump it in the 3 years we have used it, though they have been provoked to do so. We will never buy another product other than Premier!

I have used the single spiked PremaNet for years. Was not sure If I wanted to spend the extra money for the double spike type.
I bought three more rolls last month and thought I would try one roll of the double spike.
In my dry clay soil I would have to drive the posts in with a rubber mallet in late summer.
With all of my adjusting it took me about an hour to set up the two rolls of single spike, over Labor day weekend.
The double spike went up in 15 min. gave each post one good tap with the mallet after stepping them in.
Will buy nothing else in the future.

We're using this netting to protect our Katahdin sheep from the local dogs. It's working so well we're buying two more rolls. We have sandy soil here, and the double spikes work perfectly, provided there is grass holding the soil together. Have not had to water the ground, even though it gets quite dry in July and August, with the five light fence testing providing some degree of confidence. The netting is easy to setup, even when working alone.

I have Mini Nubian dairy goats and purchased this fence to keep the bucks out of the does. Training was difficult as I had a buck completely wind himself in the netting. He survived because we heard the screaming and ran out to deal with it. He and our second buck are now respecting it. Due to our presently extremely dry conditions I am hosing down the grounding rod every few days. I am pleased with this product and will continue to buy it. My only complaint is one of my double prong welds failed and popped off during installation. I will be careful and be sure the ground is wetter and softer the next time I install or move this style of fencing. This fencing is a very good value for the money and easy to use for this unskilled hobby farmer. We use it for both goats and horses.

Purchased PermaNet Electric Netting @ a friend's advice. I LOVE IT!! It was easy to put up and so far it's kept in our 9 baby goats. They had been escaping daily from their old 4 ft fenced in area. After installing the fence, and electrifying it, we waited around to make sure no one got caught in the netting if they decided to make a "break" for it. Each of them had a shock or two, but now that they know the boundaries they stay away from the fence. We are kind of of worried about the weeds growing up to the bottom electric wire. It mentioned in the instructions that it is very important to keep the weeds down. Time will tell if that becomes a problem. We did use weed killer around the perimeter of the fence.

This item was shipped to me extremely fast. The directions are clear and helpful. My 9 y.o. son and I were able to set this fence up by ourselves. It is holding our 195 lb. Nubian goats very nicely. They have tested it, but not gone through or over it. I highly recommend it.

This fencing is great. It is easily taken down but you have to take care not to get it all tangled up. It is not as easy as it appears to put it up. There is a lot of prep work such as mowing the area pre installation and it is easy to get it all tangled up. The best way to unwind it is to have someone hold their arms out straight while the other person makes sure the stakes come out in order. When taking it down we pull all the stakes up and lay the fence down then fan fold it to make it easier to put back up. The only real draw back as I see it is that you must maintain short grass under the fence. We had to keep moving it over and mowing then moving it back again so it would function properly. The electric gates are easy to use and can be rolled up to any size you need. This is a fairly fast way to fence an area and it seems to not require too much maintenance except keeping the grass from growing up under it which reduces its charge.
Once you get the hang of it the process goes much faster. Initially we were thinking they made it look easy in the video and was suppose to be up in 30 minutes but one roll took us about 2 hours the fist time. Double stakes are harder to use in rocky soil but they stand up better if you can find the right place to put them. We used metal fence posts set away from the electric fencing at the corner and at the gate openings to give it more support by tying the electric fence post to the T post leaving a gap in between to keep it from grounding out.
If you ever hear a popping sound of regular beat then you need to look and see what is causing the charge to arc. S bug got caught on ours and is was arching between the electric fence and the metal post we used for support through the insect. Needless to say the insect was fried. It is durable and ours has been taken down and put back up multiple times this year in its first use for a quick area to fence off access or to enclose livestock. The fence is not as effective on sheep as unless they touch it with their nose the woo; insulates them from the shock. It does give off some kind of force field though as if we have it on and the animals rush toward us they come to a screeching halt about 3 feet from the fence. Once shocked it is not necessary to worry about them short term getting out if it goes out as they are conditioned already to its visual presence and know what it feels like to be shocked. I wish the lower sections were a little closer together as our baby goats could slip thru the openings. When they got older a few of them tried it and got stuck consequently getting shocked over over again, bleating frantically while their body jumped around on the ground until we could turn it off. That did make an impression though and after that they were a little more respectful of the fence.
We have had no predator problems with this fencing.

We are using the fence for Boer Goats. The fence was easy to install but the downfall is that it cannot be cut and doesn't come in smaller lengths than 25'. We needed a 29' section so we had to buy a 50' length. Lots of waist.

This was one of the best purchases Ive ever made. We are raising Boer goats and have 2 week old babies and I have no problem leaving them for the day alone with others. The fence has already held up to bad winds and never moved. If you are looking for perm fence or strip grazing this is the product. I am buying 3 more this week to strip a hill down that im tired of bush hoggin, safer for me.

We are thoroughly pleased with our purchase of the PermaNet Fencing. It allowed us to secure our sheep while permanent perimiter fencing was being installed. It has also enabled us to rotate pastures, easily moving the fence when necessary. The double stakes are great for our windy changeable weather. Your staff was very helpfull in recommending the right fence and charger for our farm. Thank you for great service and a great product.

We have been using the 150' rolls of this fencing for our goats, but in our thick brush and forest, it's hard to gather it up or distribute it without repeatedly snagging on branches or picking up loose sticks. When you are working alone, this is really frustrating. So this time we bought the 50' rolls for ease in handling! Also, when some accident happens (usually involving horses on the other side of the fence), we think shorter rolls will mean less fence line impacted.

The fence has worked great with our sheep. they have not even tried to get out, I think they feel comfortable because even though it is tall and a complete mesh panel they can still see me and the other animals. Set up was relatively easy and fast. If you watch the on line video and follow the steps, you will have no problem. Wonderful fencing purchase for the price!!

The permanet fencing has worked well for our dairy goats. It is stout enough to stand up to most winds that blow through the plains of IL, but when it gusts above 40mph, which happens often in the spring, we have to go around and push the posts in frequently.

We discovered that water dripping on the wires from the barn overhang cause some of the plastic insulation to melt. It also does not withstand a heavy layer of ice, but then most of our goats were not outside at that point anyway. The poles were resiliant and did not break even when covered with over a 1/2 in. of ice.

As the instructions say you must keep the fence electrified ALL the time when first training your animals to the shock. Another thing to consider with electric fencing is whether your animals will experience fear from outside the fence that would cause them to run into it regardless of their training. We had a young doe get tangled in the fence while it was on and she ended up electrocuted. We suspect that a car driving by scared her and tried to run through the fence. Instead of backing out, she continued to push into it and by the time we found her she was too far gone. This could happen with any fence, but with this one the rest of the poles stayed in place and kept the other goats from getting out.

It is easy to repair should it get torn as you are first training your animals to the fence and that is important considering the initial cost.

Would definitely recommend this product for semi-permenant placement as well as weekly moves to new pasture.

I got two of the 150' double spike PermaNet sections to use for setting up temporary feeding areas for my goats. I chose the heavier net for the added predator protection of the 6" spacing of the verticals and am extremly pleased with my selection. The ease of set-up is amazing. I can placed the needed corner posts, layout and energize 300" in roughly 30 minutes with minimal assistance. I highly recommend this product.

I love my double spike permanet. We are going on 3 years with it for goats and sheep. The best length I like for ease in moving is the 100' although I have 150' and can move it fine (I'm not that big) The 50' makes a nice "patch in" section to slightly alter a layout. One warning if you have lots of wild rabbits...leave it on when your animals are not in the net so the rabbits won't chew it! I had some damage to the lower strands..easy to patch, but a bother.

It also has proven to be a great for keeping our small lock safe from coyotes at night. looking forward to buying more.

PermaNet and all of Premier's high quality fencing and sheep supplies have proven to be excellent investments. We began with sheep only a few years ago with cattle-only fencing and no local supplier of sheep supplies so Premier is THE place for us. Permanet allows us to rotationally graze large areas safely and quickly. We use other types of Premier netting, but like PermaNet the best -an excellent product.

I purchased 300ft of PermaNet last spring. We use it to temporarily fence in different areas of our property to let the goats graze them down. It has worked wonderfully! Once the goats learned to respect the fence (usually about 3 zaps) they now give it about a 2ft berth. Really young kids can make it through the 6in spacing, but quickly grow too big to fit.
It is sturdy and well made.I chose the double spike and like the "step" that makes it easy to push it into the ground with my foot.
I bought the IntelliShock 20B which gives the fence a good zap. It has a long charge time, even with 300 ft to charge. We mow the fence line before putting it up in each area, and move it every 2 to 3 weeks throughout the summer, so there isn't much weed drain. As is stated in the product description, it does take 2 of us to move this fence, at 150ft it gets heavy and unwieldy for one person.
We used it for breeding season too. One 150ft section was used to create a second fence between the does and bucks, worked great, there was no pushing on fences at all. The other section was used to create a paddock for breeding a friend's doe with out mixing her in with more than just my buck. We bought a second wiring harness and used 2 positive wires to be able to charge both sections off the same charger.
This is a very functional product that I recommend wholeheartedly.
