ElectroStop® 10/42/12 Electric Netting

ElectroStop is 7" taller than ElectroNet®. Has one extra conductive twine. A prefabricated fence that has 10 horizontal twines (9 conductive); is 42 in. tall installed, and has large white plastic vertical struts every 12".

White PVC posts are built into the mesh every 12.5'. The result, when energized properly, is a nearly impenetrable mesh to sheep, goats, coyotes and dogs.

The black and white colors provide 24/7 visibility to both humans and animals against light and dark backgrounds. It's low electrical resistance (only 38 Ω/1000 ft) is an important benefit for longer fences and/or fences with high weed contact.

Is your net sagging? See our ElectroStop Plus has posts every 6.8 ft (vs. 12.5 ft for standard ElectroStop). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence. See accessories tab below.

Common Uses

Used to keep sheep, goats, guard dogs in while keeping out stray dogs and coyotes. Also used to keep bear away from bee hives. Suitable for cattle.

Pos/Neg fences—are for dry, sandy or rocky conditions. Ideal for situations when there is too little moisture in the soil to properly ground the fence.

Specs

  • 10 horizontals (9 electrified)
  • Horizontals are white and black
  • Horizontal spacings from bottom to top are: 4", 4", 4", 4", 4", 4", 6", 6", 6"
  • Verticals are a white plastic strut spaced 12" apart
  • Posts are .5" PVC with a metal spike that goes into the ground.
  • Posts can be single spike (SS) with 1 spike that goes into the ground or double spike (DS) with 2 spikes that go into the ground.
  • Posts spikes are 6" long and .26" in diameter
  • Posts are spaced every 12.5'
  • 42" tall
  • Comes with 2 nylon strings that can be used to tie posts back to support posts or to tie 2 end posts together.
  • Comes in 164' or 82' lengths- Pos/Neg is available in 164' lengths with SS posts only.
  • 38 Ohms of resistance per 1000'
  • Positive/Negative (Pos/Neg) comes with 2 clips on each end. 1 is to be hooked to the energizer like normal. The 2nd should be hooked to a ground rod. This is for places where the soil is very dry and the animals do not ground well.
  • Quick Ground ElectroStop is a special use netting developed by Premier. Metal filaments in the bottom horizontal strand (the one touching the ground) serve as the ground rod to complete the electrical circuit. Designed for those that move netting very frequently. There is a risk with this design. If vegetation touches both the bottom strand and the first positive strand (only 3" away) an electrical short is likely. A larger energizer is often needed.
Benefits

Very easy to move. Secure for adults, lambs and kids. Extra height is better for large and/or flighty animals. Visible for animals against all back grounds. End posts act as built in gates. Multiple nets hook to each other quickly via a clip on each end. Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Plastic strut verticals are more rigid than string verticals. Nets with vertical struts bunch less than string verticals when the net is being rolled up or unrolled.

Cost

#203000 - $.85 per ft (164' standard roll with single spike posts).
#203100 - $1.23 per ft (82' standard roll with single spike posts).
#207025 - $.95 per ft (164' standard roll with double spike posts).
#207040 - $1.34 per ft (82' standard roll with double spike posts).

#203200 - $1.06 per ft (164' Quick Ground roll with single spike posts).
#203300 - $1.51 per ft (82' Quick Ground roll with single spike posts).

#204000 - $1.04 per ft (164' Positive/Negative roll with single spike posts).

Installation

See PDF above for installation instructions.

Tip: A PowerLink (see accessories tab above) is recommended to attach the grounded portion of the Positive/Negative net to the ground rod.

Precautions

This is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in.

It is best to have animals trained to electric fencing before you turn them out in the net only. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Dry conditions and wintertime usages—may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing.

Dry or frozen ground many cause the NetPost spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed.

Troubleshooting

If the voltage drops below 3000v on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test just the energizer by itself. If the voltage is 5000v or higher on the energizer the problem is in the net. The most common problem is that the lowest 'hot' strand has been caught around one of the metal spikes on the posts and is shorting it out. The net must be at least 2" away from anything metal (metal posts, existing fences, spikes on support posts).

Warranty

With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

ElectroStop is a little taller than ElectroNet and designed for goats rather than sheep. The net is heavier and not as easy to install as ElectroNet (taller net = added weight and longer posts). If you have sheep use ElectroNet, if you have goats and tall sheep use ElectroStop.

I know it looks "expensive" but this fence is a wonderful investment. I am able to use scraps of land for grazing that were not accessible before, and set up temporary alleys to move my alpacas where ever i need them to be, This stuff is easy to set up, strike and move. I number the poles coming out of the box and sometimes put a daub of red marker on their top ends and this has helped me use and re-set great lengths of it on my own without getting tangled and without assistance. Great product.

We purchased this fencing to allow us to move our sheep and goats around our small property to allow them to 'mow' the grass and weeds and cut down on purchased feed. The four stars is only due to the need for extra posts to stop sagging; small price to pay to keep the animals in. We have had no trouble with heads in the fence. AND, after touching it a time or two, even our 'jumping' goats don't get close to it. We bought the IntelliShock PRS-I 50 Kit to charge the fence and the two work like a charm. The animals can see it and after a touch or two, they see it and back away. The double spikes add a bit of stability as well. We purchased two rolls. Love this fence. Would definitely recommend this fence due to the ease of installing and taking down when moving it.

It is very floppy and sloppy, not straight like in the video. I called customer support to see if I was doing something wrong and they said no--it is floppy. They recommended I install t-posts and tie sections of it back to the t-posts, which is silly since this is supposed to be a portable fence. I wish I had known about the one with the posts every 6' instead of every 12'. Once my goats learned about the fence, they do not touch in. The first five minutes they were in it one shocked herself, then touched it again and ran right through it. She is a 50 pound fainting goat. If you do not mind a floppy fence that you have to tighten every couple of days, this is easy to set up and move. If floppy bothers you, get the version with posts every 6'.

Premier isn't joking about how easy it is to set up and move this fence. I am enclosing a small area for my goats and move every day or two with ease. Last summer I experimented with keeping goats inside poultry netting and when they were learning the fence they flipped out from the surprise shock. This fence has involved much less drama -snorts and jumps vs screams and sprints- and they haven't gotten out yet. Great product!

I am currently clearing 10 heavily wooded acres on VERY sandy Florida soils. I control my goats browsing with 4 of the POS/NEG ElectroStop fences. As other posters have already stated, young lambs and kids CAN get through the fence and this needs to be noted and accounted for. Another critique/concern is that I have found that the fencing does need additional supports/posts to tension the fence and eliminate sagging. Tent stakes can be used as well as plastic step-in posts from local farm store, but all will run your costs up and extend the learning curve. Also, fencing works best on relatively flat or gradually sloping surfaces. Through hilly woods other options might work better. Product does have its place, but "good to go straight out of the box" wasn't my experience.

NOT FOR LAMBS! Good sturdy netting for animals with larger heads, but NOT good for sheep or lambs with smaller heads. We've had problems with our lambs getting their head through the netting, even though it was properly charged, and dying. I talked to another Premier customer who had the same problem with her lambs and switched to poultry netting with much better success for her lambs. We'll be trying poultry netting as well. I'd love to see Premier reduce the space between strands so lambs can't fit their heads through it in the first place. Also, disappointed that Premier will not pay for return shipping on a product that didn't meet expectations.

This is an updated to the review I posted on 05/16/2014. I still believe that the fence is an excellent product that does what it is designed to do. I am lowering my rating due to the fact that sheep can get caught up in the netting. This is no fault of the product, but before you purchase this fence, understand that it is possible, perhaps even likely, for sheep who are trained to the netting to become very tangled in it (even if it's installed properly) resulting in injury or death to the animal. Based on my experience tonight, I am going to change the way that I fence in my pasture.

Got the 164' version, and think I might send it back. My ram simply walks through it, and then Monday I had a ewe get hung up in it and hang herself. (Yes, I have tested it with a voltmeter.) I decided after the ewe got hung up to just not use it unless I was right there watching them. It is easy to set up, but is not working for me. Was really hoping this worked, but guess I'll just have to go back to wire fencing.

I have the 164 foot version of this fence and I love it, except that it is a little heavy for me to move and sometimes I only need a short net to cut a pasture in half. This 82 foot size is perfect to pick up and move easily and quickly with just one person.

I got a couple rolls of ElectroStop with the double spike for rotational grazing for sheep, alpacas and llamas. I went with the double spike, since it's quite often very windy here. Despite windy days and a number of thunderstorms, it's stayed standing without a problem.

I have multiple rolls of ElectroStop 10/42/12 and it is an excellent product. It keeps my small sheep in and everything else out. I use the 82' roll because it's lighter and less bulky so it's easier to move. The shorter length also gives me more flexibility with my pasture layouts. I highly recommend this product!

The same prior fencing I've purchased from premier gets a 5 star rating, however the last 2 links have a sag/bow on the bottom half that I can't get out regardless of how flat and weed free the ground is. As a result, I have to put separate posts in to get the sag out and it takes a lot more time to set up.

This has been a great fence. Has kept both our goats and pigs in successfully. The chickens are able to walk through it. It is a little cumbersome to move especially if you are in a forested area or have a lot of twigs. In a pasture it would work much better, but we have had great success and use this for rotational grazing. We move the fence every day.

The fence is just as easy as it says to install. good advice as to wheather to get the single or double spike. got the single with very rocky land. But having a problem with - it is too flexible vertically. Went to Tracto supply and got some more posts for electric fence. redid the fence - streching it out, added the posts. still very flexible in spots. Maybe it is just a bit rough ground here. Bought it on the recommendation of some who has used here locally.

This is nice netting, but it comes in 13 panels -- you can't make a square pen out of 13 panels using the provided stakes...struck us as VERY strange, since we were planning a roughly 40 x 40 pen. Also, each panel is roughly 12' -- times 13 is 156' -- maybe it would be 164' if stretched to its absolute max, but calling it a 164'fence is a little optomistic.

This is good netting. It's GREAT for temporary fencing, and especially if you're moving your animals grazing areas frequently, like I do with my goats. If you want a more permanent fence, I'd upgrade to the netting made for permanent/semi-permanent application. I bought some of this and installed it last night. Heavier posts and spikes on the upgrade. It's worth it. If you're just looking for a temporary or mobile fencing, this is your product!

In the past two years I have purchased a number of the ElectroStop double spike nets and have been very satisfied with them. However, in my most recent October 2011 purchase I have noted a definite deterioration in quality. The last net I purchased has numerous sprues that tangle with the netting and make it difficult to lay out. I would not recommend purchasing this product because of the sprues as it is difficult enough to hold and lay out the netting without the sprues catching the netting. When it catches, you have to lay the remaining netting down on the ground untangle the sprue caught netting, pick up the netting again and continue to lay it out. I had to untangle sprues four times while laying out my last purchased netting. I had not encountered this on the 6 or 7 previous purchases. I quit using another vendors nets two years ago because of this same problem.

I'VE USED THE TEMP. FENCES FROM PREMIER FOR 12 YEARS, BUT I DEFINITELY DO NOT LIKE THE NEWER ONES WITH THE DOUBLE SPIKE (42"). THEY ARE HARD TO REMOVE (WE HAVE CLAY SOILS) AND THE POSTS ARE SO MUCH MORE FLOPPY NOW THAN THEY USED TO BE. I WILL GO BACK TO THE 36" WITH SINGLE SPIKE. SO MUCH EASIER TO CARRY AROUND (DON'T GET TANGLED UP LIKE THE DOUBLE SPIKE ONES DO) AND ARE LIGHTER IN WEIGHT. I ENDED UP CUTTING OFF THE DOUBLE SPIKE WITH A BOLT CUTTER TO CONVERT THE NEWER FENCE BACK TO SINGLE SPIKE. I ALSO WISH THEY POSTS WERE MADE OF MORE RIGID PLASTIC AS THEY USED TO BE IN THE PAST 6-8 YEARS.

Premier fence products continue to be the best. I have used some other brands, but had problems with sagging. This fence sets up nicely, and requires very few support posts. This fence is excellent, and the extra height has even kept in a fence-jumping 6-month-old Nubian doeling so far.

Fast shipping, easy to set up, looks and works great! Planning and preparation are key- read the instructions. Recommend mowing your perimeter lines to minimize plant contact on fence and it helps as a guideline for nice straight fence lines. We keep hair sheep in and horses out using the double spike and solar energizer. Works nicely with dips and hills in the terrain as well! Used several fiberglass rods for additional support in the turns. Otherwise, it came complete (even with a ground rod with the solar energizer).

Have been using these fences for about five years and give them a workout as they get moved often and in brushy areas. Five years is about the lifetime of a fence, alas, the wire conductors break where they bend at the post during fence moving, and whole strands of the fence go dead. I have done a lot of patching which extends life somewhat. Feel bad about tossing plastic products when they wear out, though may recycle sections to my vegetable garden for peas to grow up.

Have had some problems over time with the stakes bending and breaking where the metal of the tip ends inside the plastic post, despite pushing posts in from the bottom. Have fixed broken posts (leaving them a bit shorter) by heating the broken post with a torch and pushing the metal tip back into hollow core.

For the job, however, can't think of a better (except permanent fencing which I can't afford) or more versatile product for keeping sheep controlled as they get rotated over the wide range of pastures they are helping to clean up.

I would give it more stars if I could. It has made it so easy for us to move our goats around to clean ditchbanks and weedy areas. We've cleared our neighbors' fields of weeds, too. We are using it with a solar charger so it can truly go anywhere. We do supplement the built in poles with some additional fiberglass poles in some areas and you do need to have a cleared area or flatten down the grass and weeds to keep the hot lines clear.

I use this for hair sheep and like it a lot. It's well-made and versatile. I have tried other manufacturers' nets that aren't as strong/heavy, and sag like crazy. The semi-rigid vertical stays are a big help to minimize sag, but I still need to use additional step-in posts. I agree with another reviewer that the pegs could use powdercoating to prolong their life, and more rigid posts would help too. On a related note, it would help if the technical info for the nets would include the amount of amperage they draw, given the number of electrified strands, etc. This info would help with choosing a fence charger. Thanks!

I've had my net up for three days now and so far nothing has gotten through it. Predators are a real problem in my area, and I was worried about them digging under it but so far there have been no problems. I read some reviews that said it was hard to keep the middle from sagging, but I found that if you put the posts in the ground at a slight angle out instead of straight in it keeps it tighter. All in all a pretty good product. Very easy to move.

After three full (April-November) seasons with the ElectroStop 10/42/12 (42" x 164') single, I decided to expand the area for my two busy Nubian does.

Full set-up takes less than an hour. It's easy to handle--I shift it around at least weekly to a fresh area--and tolerates rough, weedy ground. Because I arrange it in a zigzag (quicker for shifting--try it!), I add step-in garden stakes with string to the poles at the sharp angles, but in a simpler configuration, I don't even need them.

I wanted it to be very visible (busy garden-center) to man and beast alike, and it is. The animals (even Little Houdini) respect it quite well. Many coyotes here; I've seen no sign of them in/around the fence.

For storage, Premier1 advises *not* rolling--quite rightly; I tried it; big tangle--but I do roll it loosely around a very long florist's box (sorry, P1)!

We purchased 4 of the 82' version for our goats and calves which we run together. We move them twice daily. By using two sections in a pair we are able to always have two paddocks--one in use and one "on deck." The product is well made and easy to handle and setup. However, for the 82' length there are only 8 posts making 7 sections. With an odd number of sections it is difficult to use only one fence since you cannot make a rectangle out of it. Furthermore, with 11.5' between posts the intermediate spacers can bow and sag. I recommend Premiere offer a version with 11 posts evenly spaced along the 82'. This would make 10 sections approximately 8' each and allow you to setup a 2 X 3 section (16' X 24') paddock with only one fence. It would be slightly heavier but less saggy.

My family owns a environment-friendly land enhancement business, using goats, and I am very pleased with netting(203000). You have to clear heavy vegetation to create a path or you will have almost impossible task of putting up netting. You have to train goats to respect netting. I've had goats try to jump thru, but once they learn to respect netting I've never had problem escaping. Keeps predators at bay. We use 3 and 6 joule energizers and when in vegetation, fence performs great.

I was skeptical this would contain my small nigerian dwarf goats that are the world's best escape artist and have had poor luck with other electric strand-style fencing, but after one nose touch they've stayed away. I bought a few more rolls recently to extend their pasture and I (they) absolutely love it. I am on my own and needed something I could put up / move myself without ending up exhausted and sore. I can move the three sections of fence to another part of the field in an hour which is great for worm control and brush eradication in difficult areas. Once you get the hang of how to handle it (fold, don't roll) - I admit my first attempt was like untangling Christmas lights because I didn't read the directions first - it really is super easy to install. Also, I figured out about angling the single spike posts away from the direction of the turn to minimize sagging. Now I'm searching my 4 acres for new areas I can put it to let the goats go at it. I've even offered to my neighbors to bring my goats to their property with the fence to clear sections of brush for them. So far no coyotes (we have a large pack living nearby) have come through it, so fingers crossed that the other reviewers are right.

The new version of this net is better than the previous - we had 2 lengths of the previous version and bought 2 more of this 'longer post' netting. It works well for us especially since we don't always weed-eat for it and the longer posts are definitely better - we seem to need fewer 'in-between' fiber posts but still use some to make it taught. We use for goats and they respect it when it's on. Agree that holes could be smaller since our younger goats tend to try and stick their heads thru it, especially if they suspect it's not charged. Overall we're happy with it and will consider the poultry netting when we enlarge our flock.

This fencing is easy to set up and move, the sheep respect it, and we have had no predation problems while using it. I don't how we got along without it.

Had a little damage where a deer tried to go through it, but was nothing I could not repair.

I highly recommend this fencing.

We have small herds of sheep and dairy goats as well as chickens and turkeys. We use this temporary electric fencing primarily for our goats and sheep, and use the poultry fencing primarily for the chickens. We have multiple of these fences and use them all over the farm. No problems with predators. There are coyotes just behind our pastures in the woods, but they have never gotten past the fences. We haven't lost any animals. The animals, including our buck goats, respect the fences. We have been using this fencing to let our sheep 'mow' areas that we would otherwise have to mow with the riding mower. Wonderful product. Very easy to put up and take down.

I don't have the patience to deal with this stuff. I end up with a rats nest every time I try, but I do think it has it's place. If you work by yourself don't get a long roll, it's just too difficult to work with. If you've got two people and are patient it will probably be fine. I had no trouble with it holding animals, but ours don't test fences.

Works great 90% of time.
Does not stop rutting Bucks (at least with my overloaded charger), or small lambs (they go through the holes). Vegetation grows like the jungle during spring in Michigan and quickly overwhelms, even hides the net.
The spikes do rust rather quickly.
Needs 4x4 grid and powder coated spikes to be perfect.

We're just getting started into the sheep business and the electrostop was the first fence we used (and only for awhile). To say we exceed the recommended usage is an understatement. Our "pastures" are anything but ideal... 5 foot tall canary grass... wet, rocky, lumpy ground is the norm and we don't (can't) mow paths, just try to stomp it down. We do use fiber posts between posts to keep the net from completely sagging and support the corners with step-ins. Once it's set up, it works better than it probably should. Make sure none of the hot strands are touching the metal spikes! The little 20B is all we have (the solar panel is worth it) and shocks well through the grass even though the red light sometimes doesn't flash. I test the far end of the 2nd net by touching a hot strand with a blade of grass. The only thing more impressive than the net/20B package are the hardy Katahdin and Dorper hair sheep we graze!

Our goats had no respect for the four strands of electric tape we'd put up. Even after we'd purchased a better charger they would jump through or crawl under the tape and get into our neighbor's garden. This fence was so quick and easy to install and is the only fence they respect. We purchased the two prong after our experience with the single prong fiberglass posts. The two prong is worth the extra money - much easier to install. This fence was the perfect solution for us until we can fence our whole property with permanent fencing.

I called and was told that form my area the one prong fence would work well. Well it does not. The post that go into the ground are way to flimsy. When I was finally able to get the post into the ground, it sags. So I had to put extra fence post mid way between every section.

I run a weed and brush control business using goats. I move fence at least every other day sometimes every day. This is the best fence I have ever worked with it keeps the goats contained and with the right fencer (I use the 12000i which is awesome). The only problem I have had with it is getting it through brush or high weeds, but if you weed eat or mow a path it is super fast to put up. This is a great product and has made keeping goats in simple which is no easy task.

I was skeptical of electric fence for sheep but after having it in place for over a week already, am convinced that it was a great investment for temporary grazing. The staff was very knowledgeable of the product and offered great service.

When I first unrolled the fence, I realized I had ordered a different fencing product than several years prior and I was irritated at myself for making this error. The fence was more rigid than my prior order and the polls were less heavy duty. But, as I began to put it up, I realized that this might work even better than my prior purchase. The netting didn't dip and I didn't need any anchor polls to pull the fence back. The mesh has slightly larger open areas (spacing bigger), so I'm curious if my ram lambs will try to put their head through it. This fence doesn't have the positive and negative, so all of it is hot, which may present some challenges in the morning when there is a lot of dew on the grass. But, overall, I think it will really work well.

Great product I think this stuff is GREAT!!! The shipping was on time and the product is superb.
The one thing I would improve is the gate, I would put a handle on it so you could open the gate without having to shut down the fence. (I added a piece of barn string in a loop to the end post and now it works fine.)

We have a small "4-H farm" raising both goats and sheep. Last year we bought one roll of the double spike and it worked great. I just received my second roll this spring.

This netting is great on our small scale operation. I use it to divide pastures so we can rotate our flock. We use it to seperate the sheep and goats; we use it to temporarily fence areas and let the goats "prune" brush for us.

We've had one section of the ElectroStop® 10/42/12 (42" x 164' roll), single spike for about 4 years and love it. Just now buying a second section of the same fence so we can enclose a larger area. We use this fence as a supplement to our main permanent pastures. It allows our sheep to help mow our lawn, as well as giving them fresh green grass when things get dry in the summer.
