Double Insulated Wire
If you intend to build permanent electric fences, you're going to need insulated wire. All of it looks the same to the less experienced user. But the differences are in the details--gauge, tensile strength, insulation thickness and single coat of insulation vs. double coat.

| Benefits |
Double insulated wire is the most reliable choice for underground burial. (Even then it should be enclosed in 3/4 in. black plastic water pipe for extra protection from rocks and traffic.) Why is double insulated better?

| Installation(Tips) |
Cut the double coated wire with wire cutters, strip off 3" of the insulation and attach it to your fence. Attach to high tensile fences with Manual Joint Clamps (#337000) or HT Taps (#339000) and to rope fences with Rope Connectors (#256200). It can be removed and reinstalled. |

| Precautions |
Since fence voltages may exceed 10,000 volts, household insulated wire (rated at 600v) will eventually fail. Do not use it! |
