PoultryNet® and PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 Kits

We've simplified the process and taken the "guess" work out by offering kits to complete your poultry fence system. You will need a PoultryNet kit and an Energizer kit (see accessories below).

The net is a 48 in. electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with the posts already built into the mesh/fence.

White vertical plastic strings are "welded" to black and white electro-plastic horizontal strings. They are supported by 1/2 in. diameter white plastic PVC posts--which are spaced throughout the netting. Each post has a small, steel spike that is to be inserted into the ground for support.

Kit Contains:

  • 1 - 100 ft or 164 ft. roll of 48 in. PoultryNet.
Choose either single spike (SS) or double spike (DS) netting, see below.
  • 4 - Additional posts for corner and end support.

Precautions

Use extra post where net sags to the ground or on the corners for extra support.

Note: Not effective with baby chicks that are small enough to crawl through the net openings and therefore are not deterred by the electric shock.

This is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Dry conditions and wintertime usages—may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing.

Dry or frozen ground many cause the NetPost spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed.

Trouble Shooting

If the voltage drops below 3000v on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test just the energizer by itself. If the voltage is 5000v or higher on the energizer the problem is in the net. The most common problem is that the lowest 'hot' strand has been caught around one of the metal spikes on the posts and is shorting it out. The net must be at least 2" away from anything metal (metal posts, existing fences, spikes on support posts).

On PoultryNets, the bottom hot wire can slip off of the plastic portion of the end posts down onto the metal spikes. This will cause a dead short and no energy will be on the fence. Unhook the energizer and slide the hot wire back onto the post. Hook energizer back to the net and test.

Warranty

With proper care, nets should last 5-7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

I assigned 2 Star just to get the attention of naysayers, who always look to the Bad Reviews before looking at the good. Now listen up if your looking for a Good Product this net is it. If you feel the price is not perfect your shopping for something cheaper and your going to find it or not. This product was delivered shipping cost free and in a very short time, Amazing! I Found the packaging very useful as the card board box is going under a new garden box to control weeds the 6 mm Plastic bag used to hold the net and short section of sona tubing to keep the poles from polking through the bag during shipping make the ideal storage tools for the seasonal storage when not in use, so I'm keeping them for making it easier to protect the fence when I put it up for the season. I just folded the heavy bag and tucked it in the 6" sona tube, so compact. I'm sure it will store in minimal space. Again this fence is quality as is the company. Think you might need more, well I'm budgeting a few nets each season. The so called flimsy posts are anything but. Select a damp day outside to erect your fence if you have hard ground, it helps. So easy to put this up, I just started sticking them in at random intervals to get them standing up in a circle pattern around my coop and after that just started backing them out till I was making a closed loop and they had tightened up. Some people you can't please. The quality is super and the cost very fair if not down right a steal. It works effectively and efficiently. R/ john in Maine

This is the first product we have purchased from premier one. Did alot of research and found their information videos very helpful. Received order in a timely manner and was pleased with the quality. Have only been using it for a few days so I cannot give opinion on longevity. But would recommend on experience so far.

The poultry netting was difficult to secure in place due to the flimsy stakes. Also, if the ground is even the slightest bit un-level the top of the netting sags severely. The netting was visually unappealing. Attempts to return the un-used net were met with the promise of a re-stocking fee and a shipping charge that added up to 50% of the price of the netting in the first place. Also, the website is poorly designed.

The fencing is wonderful. The double stakes are really sturdy and allow for you to step them into the ground. Set up take no time at all. The posts are just the right distance apart to keep the net from sagging. I will be buying more of this as my number of animals increases.

While we've only had the fence in operation for a week, it has already proven its worth. We bought it because we have predator issues as well as stray dogs that try to prey on our flock. We now are not so preoccupied with the safety of our birds and we don't feel like we need to be home at sunset to lock them in their hoop house for safety. definitely worth the cost.

Good product, especially with the useful included extra posts. I would recommend these posts over anything you buy at your local farm store - they're taller, heavier, and sturdier.
Don't worry about the $1 more they cost each - they're worth it.

I am really happy with the netting, it was easy to set up, keeps the chickens in and holds up well in wind. We had 30-40 mph wind gusts after I set it up and it held up with no problems. I like that the poles flex with the wind. Great product. I will order more in the near future.

Works great. No chicken losses since purchasing the fence. Chickens respect it and stay away. Easy to setup, easy to move. The net does sag a bit even with fiberglass posts. I use a short T post and some sisel string at the corners (if I want to get rid of the sag - but the chickens dont care, they stay away regardless). I'm going to order 2 more rolls.

Love Love Love my poultry net! I had to read the directions a few times before it clicked, but after that, my 6 y/o daughter & I installed the entire net! I had trouble finding the "lead" post but once I found it, it was smooth sailing! The netting sags quite a bit in between posts so I installed Fiberglas posts in between. Now it's perfect! I'm raising broilers n they are loving all the space to roam! I'm even considering purchasing another for our Pygmy goats...will it keep them in?

We purchased this net along with an energizer kit to keep our small flock of chickens safe and be able to move them around on grass during the warm summer months. It was very easy to set up and arrived very quickly after purchase. Our only other comment would be that we did not realize the current was a pulse rather than constantly on. It is not a problem, it just would have been nice to know.

I bought two sections of this netting to protect a persimmon/pawpaw orchard and a berry patch from wild animals. I also purchased a PRS 100 energizer. After one month of use I am happy with the quality and performance of the system. My orchard is on a 30% slope recently cleared of forest; the ground is steep and irregular and the netting didn't go up as easily as shown on the Premier video and the end result is not as pretty. But it works. Suggestion: buy a lot of extra posts if you are on a steep slope to adjust for natural sag. I purchased (from Premier) addition step in corner posts and later also bought (from local ag supply) some fibreglass posts with screw-on insulators that could be adjusted to raise the bottom fence strands. Finally: product delivery and support from Premier has been great. Everything was delivered rapidly and all my questions answered quicky via email.

I love this netting but wish it came with more support posts. Would recommend ordering extra posts. I also recommend the double spikes for more suppost. I will order more of this netting. I was losing free range chickens to coyotes or foxes quite frequently but haven't lost a chicken since I put the fence up.
Doesn't bother the chickens but my dog stays away! He found out right away not to mess with this fence!

Love this fence. We use it to keep our little meatbirds safe while they are pastured. Only thing that could have been better is if they would have offered the Plus in the 164' kit. 4 week old Cornish X chicks have learned very quickly that the fence bites. A few of my big girls have hit it and ran around and squawked like they had been shot. WELL worth the money spent!!!

Shipping was relatively quick. Product is exactly as described. So far so good, easy set up, might go easier if you had a couple people to help avoid tangling. I use this for my small home chicken flock and rotate them around. The girls learned quickly to avoid the fence. They are quite happy to have fresh green grass. I've only had this for 2 weeks at this point. I hope to get a number of years out of this for the price so time will tell the real story.

This is the best fencing solution I have come across. I have 25 ranging chickens who destroy pastures in no time. I need to move them regularly and struggle with a logical manner to do this with conventional fencing solutions. This easy to move net style fence is perfect for a one man show like myself.
I am amazed how even traversing thru heavy growth the fence maintains so much of its power, I really worried about that and even cleared some grass back along the fence line but I have learned to trust it now without too much prep work.
I was a bit concerned about the height of the fence (48 inches) as my Girls are very mobile. I thought they would try to go thru under or around and they seem to want to ever increase their grazing range. One weekend was enough for them to learn the fence bites back and to give it respect. (I learned that as well!) The small power pack is plenty to get the job done, believe me! It has been 2 weeks now and not one chicken has tried to fly over, nor dig under and when they tried to stick their heads thru the netting, well that only happened once…
I spent a few days watching the Girls adjust to the fence and to see if any predators would see them as easy targets out on the pasture, to my great surprise the Girls adapted quickly and stay where they should and the few curious animals I have seen outside the perimeter (Ground Squirrel) well he only tried once, has not been back!

The product is great! It came super fast, was easy to install, and the chickens are now running around having a great time. I really like the ease of using this product. It gives more of an incentive to move the fence more often, for the health of the chickens. Dogs and cats have both touched and learned to stay away! The double spikes seem to give it the extra support it might need in loose soil. We are very happy!

LOVE the PoultryNet. I did put it up by myself at first but it was very helpful when my husband got home to help me get it adjusted and less saggy. Spend the extra ten bucks and get the double spike - I don't care where you live - you're gonna want it. I'm gonna buy some extra posts too for more support but also for other non-electric fencing - the posts are great! My biggest worry was if the electric would seriously injure my cats - well, first evening my 8mos. old kitten got zapped; he took off like a shot but is just fine. The cats stay about a foot away - they seem to sense the electricity. Yeah - buy this fence - I'm VERY pleased with it. Easy breezy ~ does the job!

Overall I am happy with the ease of use of this product. It installs quickly and easily and is also simple to move from one place to another. This is easiest done with two people but can be done alone. I got the double spike product and can see that I would have been unhappy with just the single spike poles, as even the double spike poles would benefit from a little more support.

Posts closer together and better corner posts would improve the product into the 5 star catagory. The five extra support posts in the kit are helpful, but they flex too much to offer the optimal support.

Word to the wise, the 48" product is not tall enough to keep in energetic chickens without clipping wings.

I got this with the P5 energizer kit. That kit is plenty strong enough to handle the load of this fence.
Good News! We recognized the need for more posts—we now carry PoultryNet Plus. New! PoultryNet Plus has posts every 6.8 ft (vs. 10 ft for standard PoultryNet). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence. Double spiked in 50' and 100' lengths. -- Premier

This is suppose to be some of the best fencing available and comes highly recommended as you can see. Too bad that the free shipping perk doesn't exist for Canadian customers trying to support the US economy. The cost of shipping is half the price of the product so that's huge when you're buying $400.00 worth of fencing. An affordable rate of $38.00 per roll like the shipping quote I found on Canada Post would have felt a lot better than the $190.00 rate I getting fleeced for from USPS. Why is it that I can mail a 35lb package south for less than it can be mailed up to Canada? That said, I can't recommend this fencing since most companies I've ever dealt with in the US are eager to do business with Canada and offer very competitive shipping rates especially when they're offering free shipping within the US. I'll put the fence through it's paces with 150 chicken, turkeys and 6 pigs shortly and that will be the true test, plus keeping out the wolves, bears, foxes, coyotes, elk, deer, and moose.

I bought the netting (without a charger) just to give my chickens more free range and to protect my garden beds. It's worked great - but I did buy the 2-prong posts, as my soil is heavy clay - easy to work with in the winter, but I'm sure will be impossible this summer. That said, I agree that the end posts need to have another color on them, as they are hard to find. I ended up with a bit of a mess until I finally found them. So far, even my "flyer" in the bunch is staying put, but I still lock them up at night. Perhaps, at some point, I will get the charger, but at this time the extra space is really nice and keeps them happy.

The fencing works great once you get enough poles to support it. The poles and extra five it comes with is no where near enough to support it correctly. Go ahead when you order the fence and get at least 15 additional support post. I would certainly buy it again.

Installation of the poultry net was simplified by watching the how to videos first (a couple of times) and seeing it done and then doing it. Took me, a small woman, about two hours to install the poultry net. I was a little confused about corners so watched the video again and see my mistake that will be fixed when I move the fence in a couple of weeks. The girls (hens) are not old enough to enjoy their freedom from the coop yet but the fence is keeping dogs and coons away from their coop. I felt the net is working as described and love the solar energizer purchased to power it. Very simple installation all around - wish the posts would go into clay soils easier is about the only negative.

Alas, the time had come to fence in our free-ranging chickens & roos due to problems with getting into our neighbor's yard. This fence is great!! Our 55 hens & roos are as much in 7th heaven as they were when free-ranging all over the yard(s)!! I bought one 164' double spike section, secured it from the front ends of our 12 x 20 wooden barn (using clothesline hooks to secure it to the barn), and it gives them ample space to move freely. (We have about 40 hens & 10 Roos!) Thought our "mean" roo would get meaner being penned in, but no - everyone's happy as larks and no fighting! The fence will be moved around as needed - I'm trying to do plot grazing around our backyard. I will be purchasing another segment of fencing in the Spring to add on. I brought the Patriot P5 energizer with the fence. This fence gives me so much "peace of mind", that I can leave the barn door open and not have to worry about predators getting them. The delivery time is exceptional! I ordered it on a Monday nite and it got here to VT on Friday afternoon, We set it up (I had another person help me) and turned it on Sunday morning. This fence is just the answer for us and well worth it!! It will keep the friendly neighbors "friendly".

Product seems to be made well. We have had ours a couple of weeks. Easy to use right out of the box. I would recommend that someone ordering should order a few extra powerposts. We expect to get many years of use from this product and our chickens love it. Although there is 2 that continue to get a running start and fly over the fence so they will get flight wings trimmed... We had previous to this purchase lost 3/4 our flock to predators. Since we started using this fence no more losses!

I'm amused to find that what I was planning to write is almost identical to Cynthia b before me.

I bought a large roll to retrofit an existing shed with no door to protect my hens.

I agree that Permier's service has been superb, the web site is just great (I've recommended it to friends as an "ideal" web site, and I particularly love the how-to videos, and the employees I've spoken with on the phone are extremely knowledgeable and courteous.

Also, the fence performs as advertised, and has done a fine job of protecting the chickens.

However, I've had the same problem as Cynthia with the fence. I move it to mow the lawn, and no matter how careful I am, it gets tangled and I end up spending an additional 30-45 minutes to put it back in place. This is not my idea of the good life!

Perhaps it's because I'm small relative to a man (5'4") . . . maybe a taller person has more leverage in handling. But I always feel like I'm struggling with this unwieldy mess, and have ended up crying in sheer frustration on more than one occasion.

Also, the poles that come with the fence are not strong enough to withstand any kind of stress . . . snow, ice storm, even serious rain seems to bend them. I've had to buy stronger poles (in addition to the extras that come with the fence). Hint, of the 4 types of poles that I've used - the ones that come with the fence, two types that I bought at a local farm supply store, and a type that I bought at Lowe's . . . the Lowe's posts have been by far the best in terms of performance and ease of use. $2 each, white, in the garden section.

If you absolutely have to be moving your feeding range around, I guess this kind of fence is necessary. However, my hens free range, the fence has been simply to protect them at night.

Between this fence and a nest box that I bought from another company, I spent over $400. If I had it to do over, I'd used the money to add a door to the existing shed, or buy a chicken coop. They're available from Amish carpenters in my area for about $550.

Re the recommendation below, I am saying yes, but the recommendation is limited by the above considerations.

I have used the net for a while. I have tried two large rolls.
First customer service is great with Premier. They are frendly and more than willing to work with me.
First I want to say the large rolls, for me, are not easy to handle. They are heavy and cumbersome. When I try to move the fence it always tangles up no matter how careful I am.
This is very frustrating. The other problem I have that has nothing to do with the mesh itself is that twice instead of just moving the wire back a bit the men who were cutting the grass mowed into the fencing tearing up a large portion and leaving me with an expensive bunch of electric wire I can do nothing with. My point is that it may be easier and less expensive to use regular chicken fencing and string hot wire.
That said, when the wire is up, not torn and set up correctly it works great!!

Really love the Fence, totally fixed the problem with Dogs getting to the Poultry, we got the 164 foot netting and plan to get another 164 foot netting package in the near future, have wanted this fencing for years and finally decided to take the chance on it working and get it, and it works great! And is very effective. Also like the Engergizer Kit I got because I could actually figure 8 with 2 of these fences to the same Energizer and also can add onto the fencing up to 5 fences, so just wanted to say absolutely love it and would recommend it highly to others. Thanks Again for a great product.

We ordered five rolls of fence and two energizers, one for sheep and one for chickens. We move the fencing frequently (every three to five days) and love the flexibility in pasture area this provides. It is easy to configure for any situation. I am leasing more pasture and ordering another energizer and more fence to make paddocks for my weaned lambs. When putting up fencing in the woods, or a heavily overgrown pasture, it seems easier with two people. Works great - the animals really respect the fence.

WOW! It really is as easy to install as they say. I'm electrically inept (and scared of elec. to boot) and physically weak, but I did not have a problem. Would like to see the beginning and end posts more clearly marked, maybe red and green in color? Also would have liked to have a stamp on the carton stating that loose pieces were inside the energizer case. Took me a bit to find them. Phone help was priceless in deciding what I needed and that I had all the parts in one order. All in all, I would definately buy again and highly recommend the company and the product.

I have used the net for about two weeks and it works well to keep 5 large dogs, 6 cats, and numerous other predators from killing my chicks. I did not have any problems following the directions. The step-in posts work well, but it did take a little practice to install them correctly. It is challenging but not impossible for me (54 year old woman)to move the entire fence by myself--takes about 30 minutes start to finish.

The net was easy to handle as described in the brochure. However, we did not understand the need for ground rods and think that should have been included in the kit. Also, the support posts are not all that helpful as they bend too easily to support a corner.
Thanks much for this.
Assembling kits suited to all situations is a knotty problem for which we lack an optimum solution. Not all folks need a ground rod. Instead they use a steel T post that they already have as a ground rod or attach the energizers earth wire to a pre-existing wire fence.
If we include too much in kit then a waste of materials and user $ occurs. Too little and folks are understandably frustrated. Perhaps the answer is 2 levels of kits?
Re. the support posts we changed to a fiberglass step-in post last week. But we're not sure it is strong enough to act as a 90 degree corner post for 48' tall netting. (It's fine as support for curves, dips and valleys). 48 in. poultry netting really needs the equivalent of a steel T post in strength at severe corners. Perhaps an 11/16 dia. round Fiber-rod would work? I agree that we need to explain how to solve this common situation much better. -- Premier
