We found these to be easy to assemble and install into our coop. Just the right amount of bedding is needed with the roll out tray. Too much bedding will prevent the eggs from rolling into the tray, if there is too little bedding the hens may not choose to lay in the box. To prevent roosting, we installed a slanted board above the ChickBox.

I only have 5 hens right now and they made their own nest under a board in the corner of the hutch. Could not get them to use the "ChickBox" until today. Had to block off their home built nest! I will buy some more later.

Sturdy product. Fast shipping. Best of all - no more eaten eggs. When I first installed the bare trays some of the hens began laying in the horse stall hayrack. After putting a little hay in the tray the "ladies" returned to the nest boxes. Over time I've removed the hay and the hens have continued to lay in the boxes.

I had tried 2 homemade nest box design concepts (1-plywood & 1-bucket) before deciding to buy these. Wish I would have gotten them from day 1!

The nest boxes seem to be very durable and are very easy to clean. I was surprised at how think the plastic is.

The egg trays are what really make the product great. The slope is just right and the little trays allow me to not be worried about checking for eggs so often during the day. The tray has fold up flaps that catch on the removable front ledge to ensure that the tray doesn't slide out.

I find that the eggs remain cleaner and are less likely to get cracked, pecked or broken.

If you have an egg eater in your flock these wont guarantee it will never happen again but the chances are greatly reduced.

Although they are expensive I would say that they are definitely worth the cost. You won't be disappointed.

I was a little skeptical when I first received the Chick Box. However, after a couple of days, most of the hens accepted them. One or two chose to lay on the floor instead. I am a little concerned about how well they will stand the test of time without cracking along the back where they are attached.

I purchased two of these and have been using them for a week. I have 12 hens and they took to them right away. I purchased them due to an egg eating problem. There is still an occasional eaten egg. I have seen eggs that don't roll into the tray right away so they must be able to get to some of them. The vast majority of the eggs are in the trays and very clean when I collect them after getting home from work. I really like the fold up perch that keeps the hens from roosting in them at night. This is a well designed and well constructed product. I am planning to buy more for the moveable pen I used in the summer.

I had canibal hens so i gave this tray a try. From day one it has worked perfectly. I now have 6 clean unbroken eggs every day. I just dropped this tray in my existing laying box and put one screw in the top to keep it from moving. Fixied my problem from day one.

Unless you add the perch to the box the egg tray/nest will be scratched out of the big box! My hens do it all the time, they even were able to spill the eggs out of the flapped area by turning it all upside-down. So, I added the perch and hopefully they will not flip the entire set up over. Again, only some use the single box I have purchased to try. I have since bought several egg trays and intend to install them into the existing wooden nests with bracing so that they cannot kick it out. Because, I really DO love being able to collect eggs that have not been pecked at or broken! the trays are great for that! So, a positive recommendation with reservations.

We, too, had a problem with one of our chickens eatting the other's eggs. The tray has worked well. And the eggs don't crack when they hit the floor as it is a softer plastic. I also think the vented bottom will help with my broddy hen. The boxes are still fairly new so some of the hens aren't laying in the boxes yet. They look quite different than the wooden ones we had before. They are choosing to lay on the ground in their pen instead. Hopefully, they'll get the idea soon. But, the boxes work great for those adventurous hens who use them.

My egg production went from 6-7 eggs per day to 0-1 a day due to hens eating them. Old boxes were milk crates next to the floor. My new Chickboxes have brought my production back up to 5-6 eggs per day. In 10 days of use so far I think only two eggs have been eaten. Very worthy product.

My hen started eating their own eggs and the new chix box has stopped this from happening most of the time. The hens are still transitioning and still need a little straw in the box which prevents the egg from rolling out. Every day I remove more of the straw and I'm sure the egg eating will come to a complete stop soon. I will order another box when I need it. Thanks for such a great product.

I cannot recall ever being as excited about a product as I have been about this. Nothing stopped my Rhode Island Red from eating her eggs and we didn't want to eat her. This stopped the egg eating and breakage. The box is super easy to install, and I haven't had to mount it to the wall, it works just as well sitting on the ground. After about a week, she started laying in it every day. Even when the egg doesn't roll into the tray, she won't peck at and break it. We are thrilled to have an egg a day from her, and know that this nesting box will last a very long time. Super easy to use, durable, and very well built. I will purchase more as needed!!

This looks like a great product, but can not be used for opening from the wall side.
