Electric Netting
FREE SHIPPING!--Most US shipping for netting is free if ordered online and order exceeds $100!
Installation instructions are included in every netting order.
Premier's Netting
- It's not time-consuming to install.
- It doesn't require a contractor.
- It doesn't require tools.
- It's so easy to move that it's often moved several times a season.
- It requires no "sweat energy." Hundreds of feet can be moved or installed in an evening by nearly anyone over 12 years old.
- It's not strong physically.
That's why netting may be the most user-friendly "fence" ever made!
Species that it will control*
- Livestock: sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, pigs, cattle.
- Wildlife: deer, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, wolves, cougars, bears, raccoons
- Poultry: nonflying ducks, geese, chickens
- Exotics: monkeys, gorillas
- Other: domestic dogs, horses
NEW!--Why we're now offering double-spike posts for our netting
For years we've wondered why double-spike posts are popular in Europe. When used on 35 in. netting at Premier, we found double-spike posts work great in the spring when the soil is moist. But they can be a problem in the dry summer months. So we did not offer them--until 2008.
Why did we change our minds?
- Requests from customers--particularly those with less hand strength.
- A recognition that most customers don't have the combination of Iowa's clay-loam soils and hot, dry summers. (Sorry for being so slow on this one.)
- The addition of taller nets to our inventory. Tall nets cannot be pushed into the ground as easily as small nets because you can't "lean" on them while pushing. That makes the double-spike posts a more suitable solution.
There's no question that double-spike posts do support the post (and thus the netting itself) better when the soils are moist or loose (sandy or peaty). But because they require more steel and work, they are a little more costly. Double-spike posts are now available for all nets that are 42 in. or taller.
Range of Heights & Designs
- Heights: 20", 30", 35", 42", 48", 68".
- Color: white/black; green/black.
- Grounding: standard for green-grass sites; Pos/Neg for dry sites.
Complete & Lightweight
It arrives via FedEx/UPS to your door as a complete preassembled portable fence. All line posts are prefitted into each roll. A typical roll weighs only 12 lbs.
Durable
A roll of netting will last 10 years if used with care. Lawn mowers and serious ice storms (over 3/4 in.) are its worst enemies.
Energizers
Netting, because it has "live" strands close to the soil, is often affected by weeds. That's why an energizer big enough for a single-wire horse or dairy-cow fence may not be big enough for netting. In areas that are often dry, a wide-impedance energizer works best.
Why Premier is a worldwide leader in electrified netting
We've been the USA's primary electrifiable netting source for 29 years. We supply 80% of the netting used in North America. We're the worldwide leader in netting improvements. (Because we both use netting and talk daily to other users. Doing that has a way of concentrating the mind.) We know how to match energizer, net design and your specific situation.
What people like about netting...
- That it works so well. No other portable fence comes close for keeping livestock in and their predators out.
- That it's so quick and simple to move. Users learn to "fence in" a few days' worth of grass instead of an entire field.
- That each roll is a complete fence.
- That it requires little tension. It adapts with ease to dips, curves, hills, ditches. "It must be straight" does not apply.
- That it acts as its own gate.
What people dislike about netting...
- That it must be moved when grass covers the lower "live" strands. (The alternative is applying a strip of herbicide to kill the weeds.)
- That ice and heavy snow can flatten it.
- That high wind can be an issue.
- That animals can become entangled in it and die. (On a % basis, entanglement is rare, but it can and does occur.)
To reduce entanglement risk…
- Never allow animals/poultry on both sides of a net at the same time.
- Never use netting during weaning.
- Never drive animals against netting.
- Never leave netting unenergized.
- Use a powerful energizer.
- Use netting with closer verticals--3 in. instead of 6; 6 in. instead of 12.
