The increase in daylight means there will soon be an increase in eggs. That means that your nest boxes are going to see more use than they have during the winter months.

Early spring is a good time to give your nesting boxes and roll-out trays a thorough cleaning. Usually a good scrub or powerwash to remove built-up chicken dust and fecal material will do the trick. Tip: First remove your ChickBoxes and Nest-O-Matics so you don't soak the coop.

When using bedding, it’s out with the old and in with the new. We’re not convinced the hens appreciate the effort, but it sure makes the coop look (and smell) better! Keep the bedding and litter as dry as possible to reduce ammonia levels.
