- Ergonomically designed carrying handle doubles as a hanger.
- The drinker can be used as a hanging waterer supported by the handle. Simply hang from the small hole in the middle.
- Suited for waterfowl
Note: The exact number of birds to water is difficult to determine as there are many factors that influence intake; salt and protein levels in the diet, humidity, temperature, productivity (growth or egg production) and the birds ability to process feed and water.

Both of these are hard for me to put the bottom back on when I have them filled. They balance its just getting the bottom on and turned to lock in. I hung the waterer but did not have a good place to hang it where the chickens would not hit it flying off the roost or nest and knock the bottom out from under it and all the water would be on the floor.
I spent some time looking at various small waterers; I chose the 1.6 gallon combination waterer because it is solid, easy to clean and fill, and can be hung in a coop run. It has worked great so far. I hung it with one link of chain through the hole in the handle, a caribiner clip (for easy removal), and plastic covered cable. My five pullets took to it immediately and their water stays clean all day.

Purchased the 3 quart size for my new chicks and it works great, does not leak, is rugged and is safe for them. I elevate it on plywood to keep the chicks from kicking their bedding into it.

Have been a great fan of Premier 1 products for many years and loyal customer, but this waterer is very difficult to use. I purchased the 3.2 gal version and was hoping it would make watering chores easier. It is sturdy and I especially liked that it could be either used standing or hanging. However, it is extremely difficult to get the red base to slide into place on the water reservoir - a major battle that will make chores more difficult, not less. I would have liked to return it, but Premier would not cover return shipping and, given the waterer's price, it's not cost effective to return if I must pay shipping. So, I guess I'll just use it as a bucket . . . .

I had a smaller type water container where the bottom screwed on. It worked well, but the Pyrenees thought it was a great play toy. So, I bought this one so I could tie it up. It doesn't last as long as the smaller one that screwed on. I don't like the 3 'tabs' it twists onto. If it's not on level ground it tends to drain out. I bought a smaller one for a smaller area from our local feed store. It does the same thing.
