I just bought 2 more to have them handy for other family members. Very easy to read. I tried using the old 8 light tester when I misplaced this tester and quit checking as it is too hard to read on the sun. Fits in back pocket well. It does NOT indicate direction.
Yes the battery compartment is difficult and best opened with three hands, but the battery lasts for years with weekly plus use. Although the battery has come out of position when dropped on a hard surface and the case needed opened to reposition it. I have had one for about 5 years and I think I have replaced the battery once.
With miles of hotwire it is so handy to walk along turning shutoffs off and on when missing a short to isolate it.
Wish I had purchased this meter years ago > It's so easy to tell how my electric fence is doing now.

It just knows when your near a fence....that said...if it doesn't work then your fence maybe too weak to give it a reading....meaning also to weak to deter predators.
Maybe on the next one the fence itself will power it? I can dream right....

This tester works great! It turns on as you near an energized fence. It seems to give a lower reading than my "wire to ground" tester. Makes sense to me and may be a truer actual reading than having a ground probe. It's a very handy unit with no wires hanging down to deal with. Fits in a pocket and goes into the field with me daily. Haven't found a comparable product for the price. Speedy delivery too!

Great idea but poorly executed. Battery needed coaxing on EVERY use to work properly and it's a task in it's own getting the battery cover on and off. Getting a refund and purchasing the speedrite tester/fault finder instead. Once the battery issue and a better casing is developed this product will be worth it but right now it's just a headache!
