How to Use
Set the waterer so the nipples are just above head height—the birds should stretch up slightly to drink.
Handle is used to carry the bucket (unplugged) to and from a hydrant for filling. Some may find the bucket handle fits too loosely underneath the lid. For a better fit, gently squeeze the top of the bucket inward while attaching the lid. The lid will snap into place over the handle.
Chickens will take to the nipple drinkers more readily when there is no other water source available. We recommend removing your current waterer and placing the new waterer in the same location. Then, bring a bird’s beak directly to the nipple drinker and flick/activate the nipple to demonstrate the new water source.

I like the quality of this product but the design of the top is awkward. There is a carry handle for the lower portion, which is shaped like a bucket. But the top doesn't seem to fit over the handle, so there really isn't a snug fit. I am also having a hard time getting the chickens to take to it, so I'll probably be storing this away until we get a new flock and train them on it from the beginning.

I used a metal waterer on top of a heated base before. The waterer has rusted and it did get dirty. This one arrived in perfect condition, seems well made and I have no problem with the lid staying on. I did put a sunflower seed in each little trough under the nipples to get the hens to drink from it, which worked.

Nice product, 4 stars out of 5. The lid system should be better designed.

I have only had this waterer for a week. I like the design. Easy to fill. My chickens have not figured out how to use it though. I have taken 4 to it and placed their beak on the nipple, to show them how to get water, but I have not seen any of them use it on their own. Once they use it, and depending on how well it thaws the water in the winter, I will give it 5 stars.
