I have been using this crook for about a year and a half, and I am very pleased with it. It is light, durable, has good balance, and you don't have to worry about it getting bent-up as with an aluminum crook. A few things, though, I think I ought to mention.
As said in the description the finish is not waterproof. I found that by very lightly scuffing the finish with steel wool and then spraying a couple of coats of poly-urethane on it you can effectively waterproof it and protect the natural finish.
I use my crook as a walking stick too, and the brass cap on the end intended for the leg crook attachment wears out under that kind of use. If your crook does the same I would recommend spraying a little urethane on the end too. The remaining ring of brass still keeps the end from splitting, so there is really no damage done.
The neck of the crook is perfect for my Finnsheep, but on stockier breeds it might be a little bit narrow, especially when they are in full fleece.
Overall this has been a wonderful tool, and has made catching anything from a sheep to a cat much easier.

Just never used one before, always used my son to wrangle the goats. Decided to get his one because I could use it as a cane as well walking to pins. I love it.. should got one years ago. only took me seconds to master it with kids and full size goats. My Son is really happy about. Quality is great.

the classic, beautiful crook. I attached the leg crook head to the other end, so can go either way. I use it frequently and am getting more skillful. My name is Mary so now I look the part of "Mary had a little lamb".

I am going to order another one. Love this lightweight durable neck crook. I have used it several times to catch my goats. It is so easy and no more running with no avail to catch goats. Great for walkabouts also.

Go with this classic. Super light and very durable. Dont know how I caught my sheep without it.
