Crook is much too small for any sheep I have....especially if they have not been sheared. Might work with lambs or dogs. Opening is about 3" wide. Pretty wood though.
Love this shepherd's crook. Sturdy, light weight and natural product. Works well.
I would gladly give this as a gift to newbies in the sheep working world. I think I won't have to replace mine unless it magically turns up missing one day.
Easy transaction received in good order

The neck of the crook is way too narrow and fails its primary purpose, otherwise it is a great product.

Love these crooks; just bought two more so that there's always one handy...My first one(now totally lacking any finish due to misuse & abuse but still useful) temporarily disappeared in this spring's "great goat migration" when we move a herd of ~ 80 Spanish and Spanish/Boer goats about 1/2 mile thru the woods from the home barn out to the summer pastures (which are fenced by miles of Premier solar-charged netting). ..I did immediately deface the two new ones with ugly Day-glo orange spray paint at the very bottom to reduce the chance of their disappearing once put down in the brush ... The size of the "crook" part does seem to vary, and may be too small to catch some stock by the neck. They are also great for warding off obnoxious roosters, directing stock "traffic," pulling vines & browse down for goats to eat, hiking, getting down steep hills, poking around looking for morels, and perhaps best of all, leaning on while admiring the stock!
