ground post --copper or galvanized

I have several energizers running on my 160A pasture. Currently i have all setup with copper ground rods and copper wire. But i was reading that galvanized rods are good to use(and cheaper) and galvanized wire. Why is copper not good to use and will using galvanized rods improve my volts in the fence?

thanks for any info
bob

Galvanized is better with electric fence applications. Copper tends to corrode more quickly (think battery terminals) than galvanized with the electric fence current. If your current rods/wires have some corrosion, you may not be getting as good of a ground as possible (reducing the 'shock' that the animals feel).
