Fence Energizer for Sheep

I'm interested in purchasing a Fence Energizer for use in controlling sheep. The energizer would be used for a small pasture of ~ 22 ac. The area is fairly moist with lot of quick grass growth along the fence line, so I'm worried about loss of energy due to grass touching the energized fence. What type of energizer to you recommend and how many joules are required to "burn off" the grass that tends to drain energy from the fence? Do I need some sort of "grass burner" type of energizer?

Regards,
Rich

Rich,
It depends on what type of fence you are using, how many strands, how many cross fences and a few other variables. The Hotshock 300 would be a good place to start. If you are going to have a lot of cross fencing and several strands with that heavy grass load, you may want to consider the Hotshock 600.

Currently, we have a six strand fence, with 3 wires energized. There are 8 paddocks, with each paddock being of nearly equal size. If I stepped up to the Hotshock 600, would it be able to handle the heavy grass load?

Rich

I think that with either unit you would be okay. The Hotshock 600 should be more than capable of handling that.
