For a plug- in energizer I would recommend the Kube 3000. It works well in drier soils as well as in the most soils. Also, you may want to consider adding a strand and making it negative (grounded). When it is dry, the animals don't ground well, therefore they don't receive the same 'shock' value that they would if the ground was moist. If you make a lower strand grounded, then when they touch one of each (hot and grounded) they receive a better shock.
