Vaccinations

Very puzzled...

We gave a 2ml shot of Bar Vac CD/T that we purchased from you this spring to 5 one/two week old lambs in April. Immediately following the shots the lambs lost control of their rear legs and thrashed violently and rolled out of control like they were dying. They couldn't walk. This passed in about 5 to 10 minutes.

We came to the conclusion that we gave the shots cold, applied in the neck subcu and this shocked the lambs.

We gave a booster shot this evening to the same 5 lambs and an intial dose to 3 new lambs. We warmed the shots, applied the shots subcu behind the front leg in the chest area. The original 5 lambs had no reaction but the 3 little lambs went through the same violent reaction.

What are we doing wrong?

thanks for your help.

Your lambs are having a anaphylactoid reaction to the cd/t this may never happen
again, but if it would you should talk to your vet and he will sell you epinephrine
to stop the reaction.
