ear tags for lambs

I purchased Katahdin haired sheep. I have never raised sheep.
Ear tags---- at what age do I tag them and what size tags do I use.

Most people tag the lambs at one or two days of age with a small
swivle or snap tag. Then if the lamb is used as a replacement
they put in a 2Xte tag to last the life of the sheep.
