Hello Kelly - The following is from the manufacturer.
The use of the PREG-TONE on cattle is possible, but the unit was not designed specifically for this purpose. The PREG-TONE is designed for medium sized animals like pigs, sheep, goats, etc. That being said, it can be used on cattle after a certain point in gestation, about 90-100 days.
After this period, the uterus is starting to descend through the abdomen. Ultrasound testing during this stage is tricky, and it will take some trial and error on the user's part. The PREG-TONE will not scan through bone, and the uterus will sometimes be 'hidden' by the pelvic bones in gestation between about 90 days and four months.
The design engineer relates that the testing site is the same site where you would "bump" the cow to determine pregnancy at a later stage.
Please see your email for the instruction manual from PREG-ALERT PRO for illustration of testing site (the later stage testing site).
I hope this has been helpful.
