electronetting not hitting

Hi, I bought two new rolls of 42" fencing last year. The fences are not shocking for lack of a better word. Our energizer is working well. We have a good ground pole in, the grass is down (and dying per roundup) under the fences. I have used electro net for years, these rolls actually replaced rolls that I'd had for 10 years. I don't see anywhere where it is grounding out. I can put the tester 1 inch from the connection and get nothing. Any thoughts? I can't replace fencing every 2 years!

Ann,
It sounds as if you've got a short somewhere. Just to make sure- you have tested the energizer by itself (with no fence or ground attached) and gotten a voltage reading of 5000v or more? For the net itself: Have you tried unhooking the 2nd fence and testing just the first net? By isolating the nets, we know where to concentrate on for the short. It's easy to inadvertently loop one of the metal spikes up over the first hot wire when you put the spike in the ground. Double check your posts to make sure that hasn't happened. Feel free to give us a call for more trouble shooting.
Thank you,
