worms

We have been out and talked to you a couple of times in the past. We would like your input on a problem we are having.
We are loosing sheep to worms. We had some worm problems so this spring we used a wormer from our vet that he recommended that comes in pellet form and you feed it for 4 days then off 2 weeks and then again for 4 days etc. and did that 5 times. That was supposed to take care of worms for the year. We moved them to clean pasture after the 4th feeding and then every 2-3 weeks to a new pen. We had fly strike on a couple and got them in to spray them and found white eye lids again and gave them panacure 3 weeks ago and after 2 days moved them to a new pen and field that hadn't been used all summer. We lost a lamb a week later and the next day a ewe. A few days later another another and so on. The vet checked one Sat. morning and it was indeed worms. He also noticed we have foot rot so we got them all in and treated all signs of that and he was back this morning to post another and it was indeed worms again. He says we must have resistant worms and is not sure what to give them after all we have done.
Do you have any suggestions. We did some checking online in sheep talk forums and it seems to be the same thing all around the country.
Thanks for any help you can give us,
Steve Rogers

I am not a big fan of worming with feed. It is too hard to make sure that the animal is getting enough to work. It does sound like you have worms that are resistant to Panacure so I would drench them with Ivomec as quick as you can.
