HT Woven Wire Tensioning
Author: Tim

What is the proper amount of tension when installing HT woven wire? I installed some fence last year (32" with 20 ft. spacing) and it does not appear that I stretched it tight enough because some sagging is occuring. Is there any way to correct this other than removing the staples and stretching again? I am planning to put up some more fence this year and I want to get it right. Is it possible to stretch it too tight?

Tim,

How did you build your brace systems? Are they moving? Sometimes end systems can "spin" under tension and thus loosen the woven wire. The thing about true high tensile is that it doesn't require much tension beyond the install tension.

Too tight? Well, again as per above, it really doesn't stretch much.

Be safe. Sincerely.

When you install HT woven wire pull it tight enough so that when
attached to the posts you can not lift the bottom wire to allow an
animal to get in or out.
Once you have the fence completed it is very hard to retension it
without removing the staples.
If you only need a small amount of added tension you can use a daisy
strainer on each line.
