Akbash Guardian Dog

We have 30 or so sheep in New Jersey with a large number of coyotes in our woods. We just bought (in Idaho) a 16-week old female Akbash as a guardian. I can see that she will grow into her role beautifully, but I would love to hear experiences of others with this breed and guard dogs in general. Our little "Hoodee" chases the animals in play, chews on the lambs, and will have to settle down. It looks like you have an Akbash pictured in your new fencing catalog. These are stunning, extremely intelligent animals.

You need to break her of the bad habits as soon as you see her doing them.
Stop her from running the sheep by hanging a drag on her collar. A short piece
of heavy log chain works the best. This takes the fun out of running.
