My brother has a commercial flock of ewe, when he weans the lambs in the spring he stops the grain for the ewe about 3 days before weaning and they just get hay. It still seems we have several ewes that when they lamb the next time they have one side of the udder hard. Also at times they just don't let the milk down for a while. We have had sheep since the 70's and this is something that has seem to just started to occur. He pastures them, during the summer and when crops are out they pick thru the fields, corn and soybeans. Any suggestions for next weaning would be helpfull.
