I am no sheep expert having only recently bought my first flock, but have been doing a lot of research on parasite control the last couple of days. From what I have read worm larvae will tend to die off (not totally) during hot DRY weather, but in hot, moist weather such as you describe - well that makes for happy, productive worm larvae .... regardless of how clean or safe the pasture had been.
This apparently is why western areas, with their tendency toward dry climate don't have the problems with worms that we have in the S. E.
