hay feeder for 3x3 hay bales

I have been using the premier hay feeders for my 3x3 bales(3rd bale through them) And my sheep are jumping on top of the bales. I had one of my ewe yearlings jump into one and the bale had been eaten down. And when she jumped in it, she somehow got her leg stuck between the top rungs and she was hung up on it. I had to lift her up in order to release the tension on her in order to free her leg. Needless to say she broke/sprained something and now is limping. has anyone got a cure for this problem?

my sheep are dorper and dorper/st. croix cross and it is the cross breds that seem to like to jump. Clearing the 35 inch netting also.

Bob

Please explain which hay feeder you are using. If it is the Big Bale Feeder you might need to put a top across the feeder. If it is the Double Sided or Single Sided Feeder you can build up the sides and add a top. Dorpers are jumpers so you will need the taller (42") fences for them

Hope this helps
