Woven Fence

Hi,

I am in the process of building perimeter fencing around my property and am really getting tired of lugging around/unrolling 48" 330' local farm store woven fencing. My property fronts a busy US highway and cannot risk livestock playing "chicken" with the vehicles. My husband is unsure about running the 32" woven wire fencing even with the 2-3 strands of wire run across the top, but I think that if we do it properly it will be very effective at keeping the goats in.

I am already running barbed wire under the 48"woven fence as you suggest with your 32" woven wire fence. What other precautions would I need to take to keep the goats out of the road (sheep are no problem) and have permanent fencing.? It doesn't need to be pretty.......just functional.

I would really like to try some of your 32" woven fence which will enable me to do some of the fencing by myself since my husband travels during the week and is only home on weekends.

Thanks for the help.
Michelle

Michelle

Goat fencing with woven wire works best with offsets at 6" - 8" and 20" from the ground. (This helps keep the goat's head out of and away from the woven wire.)

For the 32" woven wire, I would recommend the barbed wire on the ground and 2 lines of HT wire above at 40" (this is hot) and 46" (not hot) also have two offsets at 6 - 8" and 20" inside the fence. To see a diagram of this fence, go to premier1supplies.com. On the left side (of the home page) click on 1. Download Instructions, 2. Fences for Goats and 3. double click on HT woven wire with upper wire & offset hot wires.

Hope this helps,
Sara
