If you are shearing to get the wool off use the 13 tooth. It will shear faster and you will leave a bit more wool on the animal (sun/weather protection). People will use the 20 tooth if they want to "slick shear" - a show preparation for the club lambs. This will be a slower process that will leave almost no wool/hair on the animal.

Janet,

I am new to shearing .... just bought one of your 4000 clippers/shearersI am having problems constantly nicking my sheep with the 13T Spirit comb .... so I went to the 20T
Phantom R ... and I have no problems nicking but it takes forever. Am I doing something
wrong with the 13T ... holding it incorrectly, should I not be close to the skin ...??

You might try to keep the comb flat when running on the sheep.
Also use your free hand to stretch the skin tight ahead of the blades.
