hand shears and blades

I know that electric blades will resharpen so many times, and after that they are pretty well dead. Is there a way to tell if these blades need resharpening or trashed? also wanting to know if the same applies to hand shearers? how many times (generally) can they be resharpened?

With clipping blades you will find that the teeth and the heel are raised above the
body of the blade. As long as they are not flush with the body you can still have
them sharpened.
With hand shears we would need to see them first to know weather we can
sharpen them or not.
