farrowing heating pads

I have been told that using farrowing heating pads is safer than using heat lamps. We would be putting them on dirt floors that are dry. if this is not a good item to use then what else can a person use? It has been so cold here.

Heat pads will work but they can be very slick for the animals to stand on.
Also you must be carful not to get bedding under them. They can over heat
and cause the same problems as the heat lamps.
