You can number 1 - ? with the year of birth, which tells you in the future when the kids were born and possibly when to cull them. If they are older goats, they should have a tag already in their ear. Just record that number and when you bought them. What ever system you use, make sure that you are comfortable with it and can remember it. I personally record the number in a book and tag my lambs according to birthdate in sequential order and record that number with the ewe number and seperately. It's kind of complicated to explain but it works for me. Again, make sure you record your numbers and it' a system that works for you. Hope this helps.
