Energizer Selection

I recently ordered approximately 1.5 miles of Endurasoft Rope: I am using it for horses and currently am sectioning the turnouts to two seperate areas. I would like to have the ability to expand to additional turnouts, possibly 2 more of equal size.

I cannot decide between electric or solar energizers. The area is only going to be used during summer months. I am in Upstate NY. How much does an electric charger cost to run vs. the upfront cost of a solar unit.

I am within 100' of a building with adequate electric supply to run a charger, If I bury maybe a maxishock double insulated cable between the charger and the actual fence.

I was considering Item# 113700 HotShock 600 110v AC Energizer as it is good for up to 3 miles.

Please advise your suggestion.

Are you using 1 strand only or is it several strands per paddock? How heavy is the grass load? The Hotshock 600 would work fine. It may be a bit of overkill though. As long as the grass load is moderate to light the Hotshock 300 would also work for you.

I would suggest burying the double coated wire and using a plug in unit. Plug-In energizers cost a few dollars per year to run.

We are using Intellibraid with 3 strands....total rope length for two paddocks and 3 strands is 1.5 miles.

Grass load will be moderate to low. Thankyou

We currently use the Intellishock 20B in our experimental corn plots. How many feet of the ElectroNet II will each enegizer cover provided the surrounding is clear of weeds? I have two different lengths (35"x164' and 35"x82').

David,
The Intellishock 20B usually will handle about 4 of those 164' nets. It may be able to handle an extra net if the grass/weeds is kept off like you're planning on.
