I have a 3 year old Rambouillet ewe who had an aborted fetus about 1 week ago on 2/6/09. The fetus was not fully developed, maybe had a few weeks to go. This ewe had twins last spring. Her abdomen is very distended and swollen, on her left side as well as her bag, only on the left side. It isn't distorted "out" but more down to the ground. My vet said that it could be a build up of gas since it is on the left, but it has been over a week now with no improvements. She eats and drinks and has normal body functions, but has a hard time walking due to her back end being swollen. We are watching to see if she still chews her cud. I have no idea what the problems is. She may still have lambs inside and could they just repositioned? Her vulva is not swollen, but tight. Any suggestions?
