Bears

Those of us with cabins at Lake Tahoe suffer from an "infestation" of hungry bears which easily break into houses and create havoc and expensive damages. One homeowner have had luck with an "electric fence" which covers cabin portals such as windows and doors.

Can you provide recommendations concerning the hardware and installation details for this application? How could doors (which need to be opened) be protected? Please address impact to operations which may be caused by precipitation - including snow. Are there any "liability insurance implications" concerning protecting a residence with an "electric fence"?

Many homeowners are boarding up windows and doors and are thinking about leaving the area. This may be a good application and market for the "electric fence" technology.

Help,

Peter

Peter,
I do not know how the electric fence would work on doors and windows. We have used an electrified netting to surround areas to keep out bear successfully. From our website www.premier1supplies.com take a look at temporary or semi-permanent sheep (yes sheep) fences. The ElectroNet 9/35/142 and the PermaNet 10/48/6 have both been excellent at keeping bear out of hunting campsites, yards, and bee yards.
