screw on insulators

Can the screw-on insulator be installed after the wire is up or must the posts be up and insulators in place and the wire be threaded through each insulator as it is installed?

I find it efficient to put the wire up between corner posts first. This allows for the easy and accurate placement of line posts. I would have to put up a string to locate the line post otherwise which is an extra step. It would also prevent me from adding fiber posts to an existing fence without taking down all the wire, not good.

I like the 1/2 inch fiber rods though. Assuming that the answer to the above question is no, are there any choices for insulators that allow for adding posts and insulators after the wire is up with the 1/2 inch rods?

Lawrence,
If you are using hi-tensile wire, it will be difficult to put the wire through after it has been pulled tight. If you string it out, but don't pull it tight you will be able to put it in the Screw On Insulator. If you are using anything low tensile (polyrope, polytwine, regular electric fence wire), you can put that in the insulator at any time.
