Safe, effective way to remove ground rods

What is the best method/tool to use for removing a 3 ft. ground rod?

If you are moving it often then tapping it with a hammer on all sides will make it
easier to remove. Some people also use a short chain with a hook to pull it out.

if you have a clamp on it that goes to your fence, wrap a chain around the rod and under the clamp. hook to three point to pull out. no tractor, add a big set of vise gripps to the hammer suggestion
