Intellishock in winter

All the pictures of the intellishock fence chargers have them mounted on the ground. What do people who use them in heavy snow areas do? My application will have the hot wire well above the snow line, but will I need to raise the charger up on something and add one or more separate ground rods or just build a cover for the charger?

All of the chargers can be hung above the snow on a post if needed.
Make sure that you are running a positive negative fence if the animals are on heavy snow.
They will not be grounded well so the shock they receive will be much smaller or not at all.

My application will be a scare wire on an existing woven wire fence to exclude predators and deer. I plan to use intellirope at 3 ft and and 6", but not energize the low wire during winter. It sounds like the high wire might not be effective in deep snow pack. Any chance that the woven wire itself can act as the ground return, assuming that I thoroughly grounded it and of course the animal would have to touch both the hot wire and the fence? Other suggestions?

The hot wire at three feet and the grounded woven wire will only work for the predators that try to climb the fence.

The deer will not touch both wires at the same time and get a shock. It is best to put the fence up in the spring and train the deer that this fence is hot so they will stay away.
