how many weeks old does hen need to be to stay inside Permanet Plus fence

How many weeks old (or what size) do hens have to be before I can enclose them in Permanet Plus 12/48/3 electric fencing? Do young birds attempt to get through the netting or does the shock deter them?

Hi there,

Age for each breed of bird will differ as some birds may mature quicker than others. It is important that your birds are large enough to not crawl through the openings on the bottom. Young birds may try to squeeze through those openings and they may very well be able to do so if, they aren't large enough in both size and weight, to ground properly. You may want to put a layer of the NoShock Chick (item #209001 or 209002) fence on the inside to prevent them from going through the netting until they become a little larger.

Please let us know if this helps or if I can be more clear on this subject!

Andrea
