P5 charger

We are just now getting around to installing our P5 charger to our poultry netting ad I have a few questions I can't seem to find the answer to it he instructions. I hope you can help.

We would like to install to power unit inside our barn near an outlet and then run the wire provided to to fence and ground rod. The fence and ground rod are approximately 30 feet from the desired mounting position of the power unit. Is this acceptable?

Alternately, we could run a new power source from the barn to the fence with an outlet and a protective box for the unit, but I was hoping to avoid that trouble....

I am just uncertain if the power source needs to be located very close to the fence.

Also, if we are able to mount the power source at that distance(inside the barn), should the ground rod be placed nearer to the power source or nearer to the fence?

Thank you.

Hi John,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this! The 100' of Maxishock is intended to complete the job you describe! We would prefer for you to connect the energizer directly to the outlet and then run insulated cable to the ground rod and fence. Each will require a separate piece you can cut to size. Don't forget to strip about five inches at each end to wrap around both the netting clip and the ground rod for a great connection.

As far as the location of your ground rod is concerned, the best place for the ground rod is going to be in a moist location. I would suspect that it will be moister away from the building, but that may not always be the case. Please remember to keep the ground rod away from any other electrical lines that may be nearby!

If you have further questions, please let us know!
