Electric netting problem - cleaning?

Author: Heather Howard  Date:   07-15-13 07:21 I have a long segment of poultry netting purchased last year that's not showing adequate voltage - it's hooked up to a parmak mark 8, which shows a drop from 15.5 to 8 or so with this section of netting hooked up, but does not happen with a different length of netting. It's not the environment - the grass is short and other netting works fine (also premiere1). There is a very slight bit of green mildew on about a portion of the netting (maybe 3 feet on a 160 foot net and only a slight greening of the wiring) - could this be causing the problem, and what's the best way to clean it? Is dilute bleach safe for this netting? I've already checked as best as possible for damage such as broken wiring. I'm thinking it could be the mildew as this problem seems to have shown up with the heat and humidity. I even had higher voltages when this netting was touching snow! :P

Author: Andrea  Date:   07-15-13 14:38 Hi Heather, Thank you for contacting Premier 1 Supplies! Although mildew can have some impact, it sounds like you may have a short somewhere on that fence. You are certainly above 3000-4000v and you are still getting an excellent reading, so having a reading of 8000v should not make much of an impact. You may find that your net could be sagging in an area and touching the metal spike coming from the post. Please just make sure the net isn't touching any metal or wood and that you can keep the ground rod moist! If you would like, please give us a call and we can discuss this with you further!
