Scrapie Tags / sheep tags

Author: Cindy  Date:   04-08-14 16:16 I would like advice on which scrapie tags to use for 1) lambs, and for 2) ewes/rams. Also do the sheep need two tags, one for scrapie and one for numerical ID for farm? Not what to order and what to put on the tags.

Author: Sara  Date:   04-09-14 11:57 It depends on how you would like to do your book keeping as to how the tags are done. A few examples are: Colors by year. Green for 2014, Red for 2015... Colors by Sire Colors with numbers showing the year - One sire red with 14001-14... for the year 2014 Some do put to tags in one as scrapie the other with the same individual number in case on tag falls out. You can put the sire name on the male side with the number system 1401-14... if you like. It all depends on what works best for you. I hope this helps.
