prolapse and paddles

I have a ewe lamb (her first and last pregnancy). She has a prolapse and we put a paddle in her but should I remove the paddle once she starts labor or let it remain there until I see a lamb? It happens to be my daughters first club lamb and has caused more worry than the other 70 ewes we have to lamb. We took it to a vet to determine if it had live lambs because she is losing some weight; the ultrasound showed two heart beats (good news?) Is there anything else I need or can do for this little pain in the flock? (just kidding!)

In most cases the ewe can lamb with the paddle in. If you are there at the time she is in labor then I would remove it for her. I would also sell her and not keep her ewe lambs in the flock.

Thanks, The first lamb was an "It". It had no head or front legs. It kind of looked like a turkey carcass with hind legs. The second lamb was normal and the ewe and lamb is doing well. Yes, we are planning on sending the ewe lamb and little one on "vacation" at the end of this summer. Thanks again.
