raccoons on deck

Hello,

I would like to keep the raccoons from coming on to my 2nd floor deck. I have several bird feeders there, which keeps them coming back for more. Not only is it costing me a lot in bird seed and suet, but the dogs go crazy waking us up.

I would rather live with the raccoons however than take a chance on hurting my kids (4 and 9) or than hurting the birds. Also this area gets quite wet being washed down every morning with a spray hose with a bird bath on the rail.

Is an electric "fence" appropriate here? Is there something I could lay against the siding or railing that the raccoons climbs up?

Thanks for any info.

Karen R.

Premier does not recommend the use of electric fence in areas that can have close people contact as it is safer to NOT have electric in those locations.

Thanks
Scott
