we sheared one lamb whose fleece was rather short, and went on to the next and the shears seem to not be cutting very well, they are leaving grooves -hi and lows in the fleece and not really cuttng at all... where should the comb be in relation to the cutter? even or should the comb be forward or behind 1/8 inch.. also, we are using the 13 tooth...
how tight should the tension knob be? do i tighten it tight and 1/2 a turn or ??.. I am not clear at all on this.. yes they start to clatter when I start to shear...
it also begins to wear on the comb on the left side .. you know a shiny spot where the cutters go back and forth??
Help!!

I'm sorry, I cannot reply to you privately without you posting your email address...

The cutter (smaller top blade) should be set 1/8th of an inch back from the edge of the bevel (not the end of the teeth!) of the cutter. We have several 13 tooth combs; all will be best used if set in this manner.

If they are clattering you do not have enough tension and/or the cutter is not set correctly. This could also be the cause for the unusual wearing pattern you have observed.

Please call and talk to a representative if you have any more questions...

Janet
