testing poly tape fence

I have searched and searched on numerous occasions trying to find a demonstration of testing the continuity of a poly tape fence. I don not understand which tester is best or where to place the probes or clips. Please advise.

Carol,
It depends on which tester you have as to how they work. Most have a loop or metal piece at the top of the tester. This is the positive part. You need to touch that part to the tape- the metal strands in the tape are usually woven throughout the tape. On the bottom of the tester is a long insulated wire with a metal probe, this is the ground part. You stick that metal piece in the ground. When that is done, you should get a reading on the tester. Some testers have LED lights (like out 6 light tester-134100) that give a range instead of an exact reading. Others like the Digital Volt Meter (132000) give an exact reading. Both work just fine, it's just that 1 is more detailed than the other.
