Cut fence in smaller sections?

I have two separate gardens with a trellis in between. They are raised beds and I want to surround each with the fence. I am having a problem with rodents (field rats) eating my vegetables. Can I cut a fence section in half, place one section on one side and one on the other, and then wire the sections in series by looping a wire over the trellis?
Do you make "extension cords" for this, or can I strip the wire and add crimp connectors and use my own wire?
I need to know before I order the fence. Thanks for the reply.

Tom,
Yes, you can cut the fence in half. All of the strands will still be connected at the original ends. It's best if you can connect the 2 fences at the original ends where there is a 'tail' with a metal tab at the ends. You'll also want to connect the energizer to 1 of those tags as well. If the distance between the 2 tabs will be less than 4', you can use one of the PowerLinks- insulated wire with alligator clips at each end. If the distance will be longer than that, then you'll need to use the Insulated Maxishock Cable. You cut the cable to length, strip the coating off of each end and then wrap it around the metal tabs to make your electrical connection. Make sure you order an extra posts for the corners and ends and 1 extra for the new 'gap' that you'll create when you touch the fence.
