Chickens learned quickly with little assistance. Very little spillage/waste, keeps small birds from eating the feed and haven't seen a rodent in months. The snap lid can be a little difficult to open and gets dirty easily. This is still a way better option for our setup compared to ground tray feeders.

One thing I should have investigated more was the type of feed. My chicks are on crumble and it just poured out every time it was bumped. I have the feeder in the outside run so it’s ok but it defeated the purpose I wanted it for (no waste/spill). I got a crumble that was a little larger and it works but now they don’t seem to be grasping the concept of needing to tap it to eat (vs. it all just falling on the ground to eat).

None of my chickens can use this. They just can't figure it out no matter what I do. I ever tried to stuff raspberries on it to give them the idea, but no dice. They have no idea it is a feeder and they just ignore it. It seems that their little beaks can't get the food out through it, even with crumbles. Please can someone tell me how to train the chickens to use it? Note I had no problem teaching my chickens to use nipple waterers, how to use my steep chicken ramp, or even a Grandpa's treadle feeder was successful with some training.

They are working great. I put them on five gallon buckets. Very little food gets on the floor and it keeps the food clean.

Fabulous! Keeps the feed off the ground, covered and protected from poop and debris. I bought my own metal bucket with a lock-on lid system, and drilled a hole with a circle drill bit. Then I Gorilla-glued the spiral feeder into the bucket and VOILA! So very pleased with this product, and with literally everything I have ever purchased from Premier.
