We use these in our sheep drinkers. They have been much more durable than similar heaters of other brands.

Worked fine the first winter. Second winter it kept tripping the GFI outlet. I got a different extension cord and that finally stopped but now it isn't able to keep the ice off in 27°F weather and it worked fine last winter. I am very disappointed.

I have had problems with these heaters breaking down and tripping the GFI breaker in the past after about 12–18 months. Have they fixed this problem?

We are using this unit to keep our goat trough from icing up (approx 20 gallons.) Temps reaching 0°F inside a steel, uninsulated building. Just frost on the edges. No ice formed. Our last deicer kept the water warm to the touch, boiling out 10 gallons of water a day (those are going back to TSC.) This deicer just keeps the water from freezing. Will buy again as the need arises.

So far so good. We use this to keep our rain collection barrel from freezing. No problems to this point but I’ve only used it for a few weeks. No issues with it tripping breakers either. I like the fact that it is not on 24/7 and will only turn on when needed to keep the water from freezing.
