Product Details
New! A modern clamp-and-clip system for castrating and docking lambs and goat kids. The applicator locks a clip across the scrotum or tail. Like a Burdizzo, the clip crushes the spermatic cords and nerves on application. Unlike a Burdizzo, it stays on until the tissue drops off, so you know the job is done.
Key features:
- Crushes the full width — One clip closes across the whole scrotum. No need to find and crush each cord separately.
- Clip stays in place — Holds the skin together while the site heals. Clip and tissue fall off together.
- Plant-based clips — Made predominantly of wood fiber. They break down like wood chips, not petroleum-based plastic.
Applicators and clips sold separately. Clips come in packs of 100. Both come in two sizes: MINI for lambs up to 1 week old (or ~16.5 lbs); MIDI for lambs up to 3 weeks old (or ~27.5 lbs).

Why ClipFitter?
Clips also take less time than a Burdizzo, which is typically held closed for 5–10 seconds. The ClipFitter™ applicator can come off as soon as the clip latches lock, though larger lambs may need a brief hold. The clip keeps working after the applicator is removed.
Clips replace rubber rings without cutting off blood flow. A ring starves the tissue, which dies slowly, and lambs can feel pain for much of that time. A clip crushes the cords and nerves on application, blocking pain signals from that point on. In 2023 trials at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), pain from clip castration in younger lambs was indistinguishable from that of uncastrated lambs.

Choosing a size: When in doubt, size up. A clip that’s too small may not latch if tissue or wool blocks the locking pin. The MIDI applicator can fit MINI clips with care, but MIDI clips won’t fit the MINI applicator. A MIDI applicator with both clip sizes covers the widest range of lambs.
How To Use
Tips & Precautions
- For livestock use only.
- Make sure both testicles are fully below the clip before locking it.
- Don’t choose a clip that’s too small. It may not latch if tissue or wool blocks the locking pin.
- Position the clip across the scrotum to avoid the teats and urethra.
- Keep fingers clear of the jaws when closing the applicator.
- Check the site until the clip falls off. Treat for flies or infection as needed.
About the Inventors
Brian Eadie, a Scottish engineer best known for developing Roxan ear tags, turned Molony’s concept into a working tool starting in 2018. His company, Eadie Bros & Co Ltd of Selkirk, Scotland, supplies the clips and applicators.
In 2022, the Scottish Government approved ClipFitter™ for castrating and docking lambs up to 3 months old. The system has since won technical innovation awards from the Royal Highland Show, AgriScot and the National Sheep Association.
